Christy Lockstein5 Stars Out Of 5Hardcover gift book with surprising depthFebruary 28, 2011Christy LocksteinQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Drawing Strength from the Names of the Lord by Catherine Martin is a beautiful gift book with remarkable depth. Martin wrote a terrific Bible study called Trusting in the Names of God, and this is a companion volume filled with stunning natural photography. Each chapter is just a few pages long and focuses on a name of God like Yahweh Rophe, El Ro'i, and Abba. Martin offers personal insight to help readers to connect and understand this aspect of the Lord, along with Bible verses relating to it. She finishes each chapter with a short prayer to God using the chapter's name. For such a slim volume, Martin manages to give readers both fresh insight as well as hope in our Lord. The photography is spectacular views of the best of God's creation. This hardcover book would make a terrific gift for anyone in need of a new look at God.
Eva Marie Everson5 Stars Out Of 5February 19, 2010Eva Marie EversonIf I had been drawn by nothing else, I would have been captivated by the beauty of the book. The photography is stunning. The words are heartfelt. The scripture references are appropriate. One of the things I appreciate about Drawing Strength from the Names of God is that it is not looong nor does it take a Masters degree in theology to understand. This book is for God's children who cry out His name ... in whatever form they need to cry out ... and are met by Him, in all his goodness and loveliness. It makes a great gift book, yes ... but more so it is a wonderful "be still and know" book. Catherine Martin has presented us with another great work!
