Leaving the history workbook on the shelf, she leads her children to carefully create their own books. Each notebook of drawings and writing becomes a record of the student's knowledge---a knowledge that is personal and retentive. To make his own page (rather than fill in another's) uses his brain more expansively. An excellent resource for the keeper of such a notebook is Draw and Write Through History. Opening the pages of the Middle Ages volume, you'll see step-by-step colored-pencil demonstrations on how to draw a stone castle, an archer, a princess, a knight in armor, a catapult, a green dragon, a falcon, and more. A sample page of writing (in cursive) gives an overview of the time period and can be used for copywork. But the majority of a student's notebook writing needs to come from the narration of his schoolbooks. Makes an excellent supplement to any history curriculum or unit study! For ages 8 and up. Approx. 62 pages each, softcovers from CPR Publishing.

Located in: Fennimore, WI Submitted: July 18, 2007 Tell us a little about yourself. I am a homeschooling mother of seven. I have home schooled for 10 years. My oldest is entering 10th grade and my youngest is 3 months old. My husband works for a home school art supply company and we travel across the country to home-school conferences every spring/summer. In my "spare time" I love to write, garden, volunteer at church, and scrapbook. What was your motivation behind this project? God was definitely my motivation! I have wanted to write a book since I was ten years old, but I never knew what to write. Home-school parents at the conferences we attend would talk about what type of books that they wished we had....so we listened and started writing and publishing them. Some encouraging friends, a lot of prayer, and two years later, here we are! What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope that this series of books will help make history more memorable for both children and their parents. I also hope that it will give children a sense of accomplishment and confidence in their artwork. Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I have always been a huge fan of C.S. Lewis. Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: More books will be coming out in this series. So keep watching! We plan to keep going up the time line with books on the vikings, Middle Ages and Renaissance and American History. Find Related Products |
