Great insight as to ways to jump start your prayer life. Don't get bogged down in the 'how to's' or 'do's and don'ts'--let the Spirit lead you. Batterson's recommendations are good but can be a bit overwhelming to take in all at once. Especially for the new believer.
Better than expected! i am in my fourth reading now. i read it as part of my daily devotions and as soon as i finish, i start it again! i read a chapter per day and at the end of each chapter, i circle (literally) my prayer concerns. i am praying for one person who continues to treat me like the devil but praying for him keeps unforgiveness from eating me alive.
This is one of the best books I have ever read about prayer! It was full of encouragement about never giving up on praying! Because of this 40 day challenge God has blessed me with a job with an awesome pay and all the benefits that I couldn't image myself ever getting since I don't have a college degree. All I can say is never give up!
I would say this book is about cheer leading. It talks about tapping into that divine power of God through prayer and lots of it. While we all could probably use more prayer time, I think we need to guard against praying superficially and Batterson's "any place any time" recommendations seem shallow. I would say the book is not very deep, that is why I say cheer leading, if you need someone to remind you to pray daily, this may help but there are other ways as well. Find what works for you.
