Author Bio

New York Times bestselling author, Wanda E. Brunstetter became fascinated with the Amish way of life when she first visited her husband's Mennonite relatives living in Pennsylvania. Wanda and her husband, Richard, live in Washington State but take every opportunity to visit Amish settlements throughout the States, where they have many Amish friends.

Publisher's Weekly

Novelist Brunstetter, who specializes in Amish fiction, kicks off a series for younger readers. The two Millers of the title are soon-to-be nine-year-old twins, part of a large Amish family in Holmes County, Ohio. They play, bicker a bit, eat often, go to school, regularly get in very minor trouble (for example, Mark falls off the roof of the chicken coop into animal manure and Mattie loses track of her baby sister). When the twins, whose temperaments are very different, get a bicycle built for two for their ninth birthday, they also learn about working together. It’s very safe and edifying, even instructive, given the glossary and brief introduction to the Amish culture in the book’s front matter. Compared to much other middle-grade fiction, though, it’s slow-moving. Ages 8–12. (June) 2012 Reed Business Information

This review was written for #1: What a Pair!.
"What A Pair" is a good book because it tells you about how Amish kids are like when they are young. I liked the part where the twins finally learned how to ride the bike built for two in unison. I love to read Amish fiction!

What a pair is the first in a series that promises to be a favorite. I enjoyed it and I am just a kid a heart. Mark and Mattie learn lots of lessons especially about getting along with each other. I gave the book to my nephew and nieces and they loved it.
