I have had this series on my TBR list for a while and finally got started on them, I should have done so sooner. I really enjoyed they way the characters connected with their eyes, I could just imagine myself looking on when this was happening and admiring the love they felt in order for one to gain strength from the other just through the eye contact. Oh yes, this looks like it will be another 'must read' series for Christian/Fiction/Romance book lovers. Thank you yet again for another great book Mary!
I read this in paperback.
MargotSouth AustraliaAge: 45-54Gender: female2 Stars Out Of 5Sorry, I didn't enjoy this one!February 5, 2014MargotSouth AustraliaAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 2Value: 2Meets Expectations: 2I wanted a break from all my usual Christian fiction authors (quality, inspirational, encouraging writers) and thought Mary Connealy might provide it. Although I did finish reading this book, I often found myself wondering why I was bothering - I was very much bothered by the violence and the gore, the disrespectful attitudes of the main female characters towards the male characters, particularly their husbands, and the almost complete lack of anything 'inspirational.' The main character repeatedly prayed, but only a frantic "give me strength" in a crisis. I realize Philippians 4:8 sets a high standard for Christian writers, but I was repeatedly convicted that this wasn't even close to attaining it. I wont be reading the rest of the series.

I love how the characters found strength in each other and took the good with the bad. I could not put this book down. I am ready to start on the next in the series. The Husband Tree is also amongst my favorite reads. Mary Connealy has become one of my favorite authors.
