MelindaAustraliaGender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Fantastic book, unhelpful electronic formatJuly 31, 2012MelindaAustraliaGender: femaleQuality: 3Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4I already had the paper copy book, so I knew what I was getting. I bought this version to install on my phone so that I could have it with me. One disappointing thing is that you have to be connected to the internet to search the book! I have no idea why this must be so. Other (christian) book reader platforms I have used are far superior...
I still use it & am glad to have it.
EmmyMNAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Tremendous ResourceFebruary 16, 2012EmmyMNAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The Divinity Code is an excellent book to increase ones understanding of dreams and dream interpretation. I have read a couple of books on the subject and this is by far the most comprehensive. The authors go into great detail about why we struggle with visions and dreams and what God has for us through dreams is grounded in scripture. This is a great resource for beginner and experienced interpreters.
The question is why would God stop doing something that scripture clearly states He will do? He hasn't stopped. We have stopped seeing dreams as a way for God to communicate with us. Everyone receives dreams but it depends on whether the "spirit person" is switched on. The authors do say that visions are only for believers, and dreams can bring warning, correction and prophesy. They also warn against the occult and ways that the enemy will try to use truth to pull you away from what God has for you.
There isn't a step by step process to interpreting dreams however, you are encouraged to practice and stay grounded in scripture. There is an extensive metaphor dictionary with scripture references for each. Names and numbers are also included. There is an appendix with samples of dreams and interpretations. You will return to this book continually for reference.

sofiaGreeceAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent teaching on dreams and visionsFebruary 16, 2012sofiaGreeceAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The Divinity Code to Understanding Your Dreams and Visions is an excellent book! Having read many books on dreams and visions I can say that this one is outstanding for many reasons. The two writers work humbly together and teach us the art of interpreting God's language but still each one displays his own spiritual character. They offer us basic teachings of the bible about dreams and visions but still you can feel the depth of their studies on the matter and an expectation arises in your heart to see more books from them that would get us deeper. Any reader can read this book because it is written in many levels of understanding. Either you believe in God or not, either you believe in dreams or not, you can still read it and enjoy its richness in the paradigms and interpretations of dreams and visions. To go further, I suggest that you get prepared to see manifestations of the kingdom of God while you read it. The book has been backed up with so much prayer that it is impossible not to feel the Holy Spirit hovering over it. The most important fact for me was their belief that God is in control of all dreams no matter the source. He is sovereign. This is a book that everybody should buy and keep next to his bed for the rest of his life. Amazing book!
Jill WestNE GeorgiaAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Takes my understanding of dreams to a new levelFebruary 10, 2012Jill WestNE GeorgiaAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5I received a free e-copy of this book from the publisher to review, but this is one book I plan to add to my "real-book" library. It's that good, and I've found myself referring back to it again and again.
The authors start by giving a basic orientation course on why dreams are so important and, basically, how to steward your dreams. It's good reading and well written. Within the first few chapters, I started keeping notes on my dreams, and jumped ahead to the dream dictionary to get some insight. The 10 chapters of reading are well worth the time, though, to read all of it. The examples of dreams and their interpretations throughout the book helped me start to see dreams in a whole new light: as the metaphors they are, rather than taking them so literally. At the same time, I have begun to realize just how relevant the messages in my dreams are to my life.
The real value of the book is primarily in the metaphor dictionary, and this is the part I've been scrolling through on my computer, over and over and over, until I get cramps in my hand. The authors provide a very thorough list of a huge variety of metaphors, possible interpretations, and Scripture references, as well as cross references to related topics. The instruction earlier in the book helps guide you in choosing which interpretation is relevant to a particular dream, though of course dependence on the Holy Spirit for each interpretation is vital. I've been a dreamer for many years, but it wasn't until I read this book that I was finally able to start interpreting the metaphors with some degree of confidence and accuracy.
