Written in engaging rhyme and meter, "How Tall Is God?" focuses on the familiar feeling that every child has experienced--being afraid of the dark. The star of the book, Bailey Bear, quizzes Dad with the question, "How tall is God?" Using metaphors--like a giraffe not even reaching God's chin--and Bible stories kids will easily understand, Dad tells Bailey that God is big enough to keep Bailey safe. Tell us a little about yourself. I originally wanted to be an animator for Disney. I
developed the main character for the first book twenty
years ago while in high school. At that time, I thought he
would be used in a comic strip someday. Who would
have thought God would have me use him in a
Christian children's book?!
What was your motivation behind this project? God. I wanted to introduce children to God at an earlier
age by answering simple questions they think about but
parents are afraid to answer. I intend to involve the
parent and child in an honest conversation about God
that will someday lead the child to a true loving
relationship with Him.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I want to light a spark that will open the child's and even
parent's mind to the wonder of God. I hope the book will
bring discussions that will not only bring the child closer
to God but also closer to the parent or teacher.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Mercer Meyer, Charles Shulz, Maurice Sendek, Tex
Avery
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I am the father of two beautiful girls. On top of being a
professional artist I also play the drums. I play weekly
for my church orchestra.
