Renee L. Perro5 Stars Out Of 5May 21, 2008Renee L. PerroIt is the duty of every Christian to know the will of the Father. In his book, The Will of God, Kent Reynolds makes it clear to us that it cannot be discovered using a simple multi-step magical formula, but neither is it a complex cosmic mystery that only a privileged few can ascertain. By continually directing us back to the Scriptures, Pastor Reynolds helps us identify the foundational basics that are essential. Through our understanding of the nature of our Father, His character, what His Word says about who He is and who we are, we will come to understand the intimacy He longs to establish with each of us. As we cultivate that relationship with Him, our ability to greater discern what is and what is not His will for us, will follow. Through a no-nonsense approach that is grounded in humility, contemplative thought and personal experience, Kent Reynolds helps guide the reader into the steps toward attaining individual growth and intimacy with the Father. His extraordinary ability to translate Biblical truth into practical reality, makes the Will of God an invaluable tool for Christians everywhere that are earnestly seeking to answer the most persistent and perplexing question of their spiritual journey: what is the Will of God?

CalhounThis is a life changing book for the seasoned reader in the midst of their journey with Christ and for the one who is starting or questioning their journey with Christ. Use it as a helpful tool alongside the Word of God to answer the question,"What is the will of God in my life?"
Carol Carrillo5 Stars Out Of 5May 5, 2008Carol CarrilloThis is one of the best Christian Living books I have ever read. The author used to be my minister in Athens, Ga, prior to receiving his Doctorate at Asbury Seminary. I have purchased at least 20 copies since its release in February, at a conference sponsored by Asbury Seminary. I've given it to other ministers, counselors, physicians, Christian friends, even strangers who were going through deep struggles, all Christians. All feedback has been positive. This book is extremely thought provoking and a wonderful reference tool for anyone from a new to a "seasoned" Christian. It helps one learn what God really wants from us, not just what He can give us. Our Lord wants to lavish us with His love and spiritual gifts, but in order to do this, we have to get to know and believe Him. It means giving up OUR will for the better gift of His Will. None of this is easy, especially since most of us have been raised with our immediate wants at our disposal. True discipleship means giving our lives over to the God who didn't spare His own Son. This sacrifice is explained, along with the instructions one can take to heart to begin to cultivate this relationship. We received The Holy Spirit when we gave our lives to Christ, but we still live in this world of mostly non-believers. We need to shine for The Lord by living lives of love, purity, selflessness; a covenant relationship of Christ within us, His Church, His Bride. We are required to go outside our comfort zone and individually answer the question, "Is God enough for you? If that's all you have, is He really enough"? This book is easy to read, requires much reflection, and yields many "Wow, that's what I REALLY want to be like!" reactions. Almost every page is earmarked. It is a book teaching spiritual healing, as well. To think that one could not only know, but be in God's Will is a remarkable concept. See if you agree by buying, reading, and then starting to live out "God's Will".

Tell us a little about yourself. I was a pastor for thirty years and now I teach in a doctoral program for advanced church leadership. I also have a personal ministry of training international Christian leaders.
What was your motivation behind this project? As a pastor, the two questions people most often asked me were these: How can I know the will of God for my life and how can I hear from God? I wrote the book to give people an intelligent and Biblical framework to do both. I try to give the principles by which people can position themselves in relationship with God so that God's purposes unfold through them day-by-day. I also believe that you can give this book to someone who is new to the faith and it will give them a practical and understandable guide for establishing an on-going relationship with God.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I pray that people will understand and experience a new and deeper dynamic in their spiritual walk. I hope they can come to realize that there is so much more available in their walk with God than what they are currently experiencing.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I loved writing this book. It represents 30 years of walking with God and being a spiritual shepherd to many different kinds of people. For some reason, human intelligence and the power of God have seemed to be in conflict when it comes to our spiritual walk. But both are important. We cannot rely exclusively on our limited understnading and yet our ability to think intelligently greatly impacts the ability of God to work effectively in our lives. I believe I have been able in part to bring them together.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My primary influence has been Scripture. The Bible has had an exceedingly profound influence in the way I think, live, and see life. My experience working with people as a pastor and seeing how God works in them has also had a significant impact on me. The great minds and powerful spirituality of people like Pastor Jack Hayford and E. Stanley Jones have also played a significant role in my development.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: God's will is not a mystery. We do not have to grope about in the darkness wondering about God's purposes for us. Although God's ways and thoughts are higher than ours, they are not inaccessible to us. I hope this book, "The Will of God," can help usher you into a deeper and more powerful walk with God.
