Dr. David Frisbie5 Stars Out Of 5June 4, 2007Dr. David FrisbieVery Readable and Very RealMay 30, 2007 Thinking of giving up on your marriage? Author Brenda Clayton knows what it feels like. She's been there, and she talks about it. She is divorced and remarried --- and the second marriage hit the rocks after several years. Finding help for the second marriage became the inspiration for much of this book. No wonder the book shines with real life! This book is honest, gritty, realistic, down-to-earth. It speaks to women who are hurting and tired --- from the perspective of someone who understands it and who has experienced it. Not preachy, not theoretical, just good help. Clayton draws on the Bible, noted marriage authors, and others, but much of her advice comes straight from her own heart. Deana Hoover - Reno Gazette Journal5 Stars Out Of 5February 26, 2007Deana Hoover - Reno Gazette JournalLocal 'Desperate Wives' author offers tools and hopeRomance isn't dead. But sometimes it takes a little work.Carson City author Brenda Clayton has written a book called "Desperate Wives: Help and Hope for Women Considering Separation or Divorce." Clayton wrote the book for women who don't know where to turn in their marriages. "If what you're doing isn't working, what else can you try?" Clayton says. Her hope is to give women practical tools to apply in marriage. "Divorce is not always wrong, but 65% of problems are resolvable," she said. Clayton explains that, though a person may feel frustrated, there are tools that can be used. "We have to deal with conflicts in a way that's positive and affirming. In withdrawal, nothing gets solved," she said.

Tell us a little about yourself. I've included some of my own personal experiences in failing at one marriage and fighting for this one. The book is written in an easy to follow format without a lot of 'Christianese'. Women who are struggling in their marriages need a straight-forward honest message rather than a 'preachy' tone.
What was your motivation behind this project? To help and encourage women who are discouraged, frustrated and desperate in their marriages. Also, women who, like me, have gone through a divorce and don't want to fail at another marriage will find strength and direction.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? This book is written for women who are discourged, frustrated, angry, desperate and need biblical direction in their marriages. Women from 20 to 60, with only a nominal spiritual base to being a 'cradle Christian' can benefit from this book.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? By providing articles and excerpts from leading authorities on Christian marriage, this book provides the tools and information that women need to help guide and encourage them at this pivotal and crucial point in their lives.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: By addressing the heart condition and heart attitude, it causes a woman to look within herself rather than her husband. It causes her to look at her unrealistic expectations, unmet needs and how she loves. The goal is to cause a woman to look to God to help her release selfish, unrealistic and controlling desires and seek God's best for herself, her husband and her marriage.
