I am writing chiefly in response to MacMel's review of this product. I am only 47, but I know that I should never ever buy a Bible with 8-point type given the mileage on my eyeballs. Indeed, I already pretty much limit myself to large-print editions. I would be reluctant to rate a Bible with single stars just because the print caused me eyestrain -- I would and do, however, take care to purchase Bibles with sufficiently large print for my needs.

But, on to the product itself, this is a pretty basic edition of this translation. At the price listed at the time of this review, it's a pretty good value. The spine will ease up with a bit of flexing and use, allowing for greater visibility of the innermost letters by the binding. I would, however, recommend the large print edition for almost any user over this edition -- or else you'll end up with eyes like mine!

This is the poorest designed and bound Bible I have ever owned. The pages are trimmed to fit so close to the binding that it is practically impossible to read the text close to the binding==it simply doesn't open fully. The typeface, while it has a clean look, achieves the look by using a very light, narrow stroke that produces eyestrain in short order. Don't waste your money.
