A triumph of rigorous scholarship and sound theological judgement, Keil & Delitzsch remains one of the most popular Old Testament commentaries available. Now this classic conservative series includes a searchable companion CD-ROM. This commentary set includes a discussion of the nature of Old Testament literature, introduces each book of the Old Testament, and offers in-depth analyses of the Hebrew text. While the content is unchanged, its format has been updated, and some errors from the original have been corrected. This edition is newly typeset in modern, easy-to-read type, Arabic has been transliterated, biblical references have been changed from Roman to Arabic numerals, and long paragraphs have been broken into shorter ones so that the work is easier to read.
Other features include:
- Proofreading of all Greek and Hebrew words
- Modernization of abbreviations
- A custom-designed font that is more readable than the original
- Standardized formatting for each volume (the original had different formats in each volume)
- Movement of the commentary on Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther from volume three to volume four (to make each volume a more consistent length)
- Continuous pagination in each volume, with a separate table of contents for each volume

So far this commentary has been an excellent tool!! Books are very well organized making it easy to find what you're looking for. Also, I like how they actually keep the Greek, Hebrew, and Latin as it appears in the source they are quoting instead of transliterating it like other commentaries. The only thing I haven't liked about them so far is the fact that they did transliterate the Arabic, but I understand why they did so. Also books are of a high quality and should last for a long time to come. Most impressive is the conservative view point taken by the authors. Most anything that is considered scholarly anymore requires one not to believe in a literal, futuristic approach to prophecy (the book of Daniel most notably). A must have for anyone who studies the Old Testament in depth!

I can surely say that if it were not for this particular exegesis I would not have the 'Wow' appreciation factor for the book I love so much, Proverbs. This is truly a definite must have. For anyone purchasing this set I recommend to you a Hebre-English bible in order to lookup the particular words as they refer to them. My personal opinion, isbn #1565639804 will suit you well if you do not already have one.

Still the best commentary set on the Old Testament even after 140 years, and now with a free CD-Rom of the set. I have been using the set for some time and have found it very helpful, especially the in-depth expositions on various issues. Problem and difficult passages have been dealt with, and one comes away with a better understanding of the passage. One may not agree with all that has been written; but that should not put one off owning the set. I strongly recommend it to all pastors, teachers, and students alike. The only drawback is the various spelling mistakes that have not been corrected by Hendrickson Publishers; but with the price CBD is offering for the set, one can overlook these mistakes. Make this your number one purchase this year, and you will not regret it.
