Kurt Meyer5 Stars Out Of 5August 25, 2010Kurt MeyerI read this book when I was in the military back in 1986. This book was such a breath of fresh air for me. At the time, I often felt guilty about not being a missionary or doing something spiritual for a career. After reading this book, my guilt melted away and the author did a great job of explaining his view about the subject. I definitely recommend this book to all Christians who might be struggling with whether they are doing "the will of God." I cringe everytime I hear this phrase in Christian circles.
Jon Dulin5 Stars Out Of 5February 2, 2009Jon DulinThe reason I have decided to give this book a five star rating is that Garry Frieson, the author of this book, does such an incredible job of presenting his wisdom-approach to the issue of hearing God's voice with sound Biblical interpretation. Time after time Frieson demonstrates his great ability as an expositor of the word. His arguments are so well reasoned and so well founded that one shouldn't simply dismiss his contribution to the discussion because of pretense. Where he departs from the traditional approach of hearing God's voice he gives solid evidence for his views. I should add that I am hard pressed to find any evidence that would disprove the majority of his statements and I do believe that his case is by far the most consistent of views on the subject. I am, however, still working through some of his unanswered questions concerning the spiritual gifts of wisdom and knowledge. I only wish Frieson had more books for us to read.
Bob Butler5 Stars Out Of 5September 25, 2008Bob ButlerFriesen's book is the best treatment of the topic available. His thorough and practical approach clarifies the process for wise decisions. It is a challenge to the conventional method of finding God's will, so prepare to read with a teachable attitude. The author confronts the traditional approaches and then presents the practical application of Scripture as the alternative. I advise every Christian I know to add this to their library. It is a life changing book worthy of being taught and read regularly.
Joe Buonassissi5 Stars Out Of 5October 19, 2007Joe BuonassissiThe very best book on this subject I have ever read. Very scholarly, yet readable (a rare combination). Friesen, clearly a skilled exegete, does a thorough job of exposing the traditional will of God theory as a concept shot-through with flaws. His Biblically well-supported presentation decimates the concept of God's will most of us learned growing up in church, as well as providing a much better defined approach. Mr. Friesen reminds me a lot of Apollos in Acts 18: "...a learned man, with a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures." This book is worth twice the price. It may be the best book I've read this year, period! Buy it; you'll be glad you did.
