Product Description

Today, depression is a common symptom doctors hear over and over again. And because we are so easily riddled with guilt and remorse, one in five people will suffer at least one major episode in their lifetime. But how does a Christian cope with it? In Dealing with Depression , author Sarah Collins reassures us that just like our physical health, our emotional health can experience good and bad intervals. Drawing from a Biblical and medical perspective, she reminds us that God feels our pain and through His grace we can be free of the darkness and despair to pursue a life of hope and happiness.

    A great resource

This short little book is a great resource to those who are themselves struggling with depression or are close to someone who is. The two authors obviously write from personal experience working with individuals who have depression, so they bring a well-informed perspective to the topic. They especially focus on how a Christian should understand the suffering caused by depression. I found their approach to be biblical, balanced, practical, and sympathetic. They encourage believers to understand the medical realities of depression, but also offer advice for how to seek healing from God and supportive friends at a time when one's relationships can really suffer. They also provide short stories of Christians who have undergone depression, some of it very severe, as well as how family and friends can listen and care. An easy but informative read, I finished the book in under two hours.
