After being called to the office and ordained a deacon in the Church of Jesus Christ, embracing its gravity and responsibility, then being molded into the maturity that it requires, our hope is that we will be counted as one in 1 Timothy 3:13: 'Those who have served well as deacons acquire a good standing for themselves, and great boldness in the faith that is in Christ Jesus'. I believe this book (outside of the bible) is critical to have, to hold, to read, to highlight, notate, to carry throughout your years of service and to bless those who will follow into this ministry. The book is designed for years of wear and page turning with a durable cover and binding that is rarely seen. The Chair of our Deacon Ministry saw my book and wanted one! This is the beginning of a new move of God in this ministry to help our church, develop Christian disciples and leaders and provide care and outreach resources for the wider community in a prayerful and systematic way.
Each Deacon and Deaconess will be writing such review as they meet and discuss the topics at hand. We enjoyed teaching from this book year before and found it to be good for people from different walks of life; which is my church I have 24 nationalities.
Excellent depiction of Deacons in the 21st century
February 27, 2012
Complete, concise & excellent depiction of deacons as servants. Dr. Webb places deacons fully into their roles for the church. Required reading for our deacons old/new. Certainly recommended for the 21st century deacons ministry.
This book will be the second one used in training this class of deacons. I was initially drawn to it because of the binding and the title. Once I opened it and started reading, I knew we had to have it as part of our training materials. We were not disappointed!
