The flow of the book is sometimes a little unweildy, but Daws is so inspirational that it is well worth reading about this bold and disciplined Christian trail-blazer. Daws moved me to embark on Navigators scripture-memorization plan, and encouraged me to be bolder in reaching out.

This is not an easy-to-read, can't-put-it-down type of book. But Dawson Trotman, I've learned, wasn't an easy man. His life demonstrates the truth that discipleship--following Christ--is not easy, but requires a deep commitment to a clear vision with a lasting hope. Buy this book; don't check it out of the library (as I did). Read it with your Bible close at hand, for Daws was a man of the Word and Skinner writes as Daws spoke--providing many Biblical references but not often telling the reader what they say. The reader must look up every reference in order to complete the message of this book, which could be summarized by two passages: Deuteronomy 6:6-7 and 2 Timothy 2:2. Look them up!

"DAWS" is an excellent book that continues to show how God can take ordinary people and make them extraordinary. Dawson Trotman was an inspiration to thousands of young men and women during his lifetime demonstrating dependence on God in every aspect of life. The book is an encouragement to us, who never had the opportunity to meet him. I make this the first book I read every year just to get me started on a spiritually positive note. Read and see if you don't agree.
