Judith Miller is an award-winning author whose avid research and love for history are reflected in her bestselling novels. When time permits, Judy enjoys traveling, visiting historical settings, and scrapbooking the photographs from her travel expeditions. She makes her home in Topeka, Kansas.
The Thousand Islands provide a perfect backdrop for the drama that follows the Broadmoor family. Hamilton Broadmoor was a keen businessman who brought the family wealth and prosperity, as well as a good place in society. Hamilton purchased an island and built a summer home there so the family could vacation in style. But, when Hamilton dies, his will sends Fanny on her greatest adventure yet! Fanny receives one-third of her grandfathers estate, the same amount her two uncles received. This makes many in the family angry. Some relatives even plot ways to steal Fannys land away from her. Fanny never enjoyed the ways of upper crust society, and now that she is burdened with her inheritance, she enjoys it even less. Fanny loves the simple things in life. In fact, she has given her heart to Michael, the familys day laborer boat-man.
A Daughters Inheritance is full of memorable scenes and fun times. In one incident Fanny and Amanda plot to cover Amandas brothers in white wash to teach them a lesson for teasing them so often; instead, Amandas father ends up getting covered. This scene is just one of many that provide comic relief amidst the intense drama. For those readers who enjoy fast-paced enjoy historical fiction tinged with romance, this book delivers.-- Libby Winebrenner, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com

Valerie Jenkins3 Stars Out Of 5Pretty good...but hated the endOctober 6, 2013Valerie JenkinsThe book was pretty good....until I got to the end..it left me hanging with so many questions about people in the book and what happen to them....felt like it was unfinished. I figure it would be in book 2 but it is about one of the other cousins in the book.
LalaAge: 18-24Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5Not what I expected!May 21, 2012LalaAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 3Value: 2Meets Expectations: 3I had recently read another book by this author (she is an amazing writer) and I have to say I was disappointed with this read! I was expecting a lot more, but was really bummed to find the story quite slow with no resolution in the end! All this stuff had happened to Fanny and then it quickly ends, but I can't say with me wanting more! Plus I could NOT stand Uncle Jonas! However, I would like to finish the series. I just hope that it gets better!
