Melody Carlson has such a gift and I am so glad that she shares it with us. In this second book in a series she picks up where she left off in Lock, Stock and Over a Barrel. Daphne is living in her Aunt Dee's house, after her aunt passed. Unfortunately she must marry before her next birthday in order to keep her inheritance. She continues on with life and this includes writing her aunt's advice column. She soon acquires a new neighbor, Sabrina, who is just vibrant with energy and is always dressed to the 9's. These two make quite a pair to deal with.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, as I have with most of this authors books. She writes with such humor and she is able to make the reader feel like they are part of the characters' lives. I also like the way that love is not an automatic thing in her books. I loved this book and would recommend this and any other of Melody Carlson's books to anyone that is looking for a book to pick you up.
I was given this book by B&H books and NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
I really enjoyed this series. I have read e-books 1 & 2 in the Dear Daphne Series and hope that book 3 and 4 will also be available on this site as e- books also. I am wondering how the series will end. This is one of my favorite authors.
This is part of a series of books. I can't wait for the next one to come out. Having to get married within a year or lose her inheritance, the main character starts looking at all single men as potential husbands.
Book 2 of the Dear Daphne series picks up right where Lock, Stock, and Over a Barrel left off. In Dating, Dining, & Desperation, Daphne is continuing her search for a husband! A Southern belle new neighbor, Sabrina, certainly makes things more interesting. While Jake & Ricardo are still in the picture, Daphne meets several other bachelors in this story. Dating, Dining, & Desperation includes a wedding, big news from Olivia, and a few new characters in Daphne's life.
I loved the second installment in the Dear Daphne series! Carlson's writing once again allowed me to become completely immersed in the story. Sabrina adds more fun to the book, and it's balanced out by the addition of some more serious characters. I find myself rooting for and against potential husbands for Daphne. The final 2 titles in this series are set to be released as ebooks in the near future. I can't wait to see what happens next with Daphne, Sabrina, Mabel, & the rest of Appleton!
I can honestly say that this book was a good read. I wasn't really intrigued until the second chapter, but once I got into it I really couldn't wait to finish the book, it was hard to put down. Overall, this book was a really good book and I would recommend it to others.
