From a warring tribal village in Africa to a Rob Zombie concert to a Guatemalan prison to a bombed out church in Sudan, Caleb Bislow shares firsthand stories of how God is working around the world. Some see Caleb's life and faith as extreme, but to him, sharing God's love in the most dangerous and despised places in the world is simply living a life of surrender.
With humbleness and even some humor, Caleb inspires readers to step out of their comfort zones and take godly risks wherever they are. Rounding out the book are appendixes of organizations to join or support and specific prayer needs around the world.

In 2005 Caleb Bislow decided safety was overrated. Realizing there is nowhere on earth beyond God's love, He became what might be called an ''extreme missionary,'' traveling to some of the world's most dangerous places. From red-light districts in Asia to Guatemalan prisons to warring tribal villages in Africa. Caleb Whitnessed God's light break thru the darkness again and again. In this book Caleb shares his stories. Some are funny, Some are scary, Some are horrifying, But all of them are inspiring. He challenges readers to listen for God's voice and be ready to follow where he leads us. Along with the stories, he coaches the reader by sharing how he makes decisions and a priority checklist. He also gives practical advice as to how to get involved with each of the people groups he shares about in case one of them touches your heart. He cautions that to be a missonary, you do need to have some more formal training. I thought his training program for Unusual Soldiers was very interesting. It demonstrated that even the shy and timid are candidates to travel into dark, dangerous places to minister to others. This book is a good challenge for any christian who needs to get out of their comfort zone. While the book's radical approach may not be necessarily for me (Unless God has other plans), Believers will be reminded that this world is temporary and heaven and hell are eternal realities.

DorieAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Informative and MotivationalOctober 13, 2013DorieAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4The book is part autobiographical, part exposition, and part persuasive argument, all rolled into one cohesive work. Bislow shares his personal experiences which led him from a youth group leader to undertaking dangerous mission trips around the world and starting Unusual Soldiers, a ministry which trains individual for mission work.
Bislow presents his experiences in a humble tone, sharing freely his mistakes and giving God the glory for triumphs. Over the years, the Lord has led Bislow and others to minister in some unusual places and ways. The stories he shares are not light hearted, but difficult to hear, read, and experience. The message readers receive is that following Jesus is not easy, will sometimes lead us into dangerous places to minister to the least of these.
Though Bislow readily admits that not all of us are called to go into every dangerous place, we are all called to take Jesus to someone, somewhere, and this call is probably not to a comfortable place or experience. Included in the book are resources for individuals to get involved in his ministries as well as other ministries which are reaching the "dark, dangerous, and despised" people groups.
I received a copy of this book for review purposes.

One Man's Extreme Faith Challenges Believers to Live More Radical Lives
Summary: From a warring tribal village in Africa to a Rob Zombie concert to a Guatemalan prison to a bombed out church in Sudan, Caleb Bislow shares firsthand stories of how God is working around the world. Some see Caleb's life and faith as extreme, but to him, sharing God's love in the most dangerous and despised places in the world is simply living a life of surrender.
Reaction: I know as an American Christian I can become complacent and content with life as I am living it right here and now. Caleb challenges us to make a radical life, even where you are placed at this moment. I don't believe that God calls all to dangerous places as he has called Caleb, but I do believe wholeheartedly that He calls us to share the gospel where we are and with those that might make us uncomfortable.
I appreciated the stories to reveal how God has worked in Caleb's life and those part of his training program. He shares what God has taught him and what might be in store for us if we choose to live a radical life for Christ. Never take for granted the time that we have been given to reach others for Christ.

I will admit that I thought the book would be good but I wasn't expecting it to hit the way it did or challenge my heart to really think about people around the world who have never heard how deep and how wide the love of Jesus is for them.
Bislow shares through personal experiences about going to hard places in Dangerous, he gives a face to those who have yet to hear about what Jesus has to offer. He shares about being an ordinary guy, following God and taking His story to the Maasai people of Kenya and beyond, as well as to many other places around the globe.
