4 Stars Out Of 5
We've had excellent results using this series!
September 28, 2012
Our family has used the Daily Grams series for about 6 years now. What I appreciate most about the series - and each book - is that it continually reviews the concepts that are being taught. Because of this, my children have assimilated the necessary skills in grammar, punctuation, and more, with little to no teaching or guidance from myself. It's basically a self-teaching kind of workbook for most students. There may be some students who need a bit more explanation or guidance with it, since it doesn't actually have the "teaching" part included; that is found in the Easy Grammar books that go along with this series. However, we've found that we haven't needed to purchase and use Easy Grammar along with it. I bought an English handbook (Rod & Staff) online, and if we have an occasionaly question that I don't remember from my years in school, we just look it up and talk about it briefly.
The reason I'm not giving this series 5 stars is because there is such a price difference between the book that includes the answer key, and the book that doesn't. In order to save costs, I've had to order this book without the answer key, and once in a while, something pops up that I'm not sure about the answer. For some families, they will really want the answer key - and for some families, maybe it won't be as necessary. I do wish at least a small answer booklet was included, but the price was still kept down.
This is perfect for my daughter. She gets overwhelmed with too much "busywork." But she loves her daily grams. It's just enough to keep her grammar skills sharp without overwhelming her. I highly recommend it. Beware - this is the Daily Gram workbook and does not have the answers. Get the regular Daily Grams book if you want the answers included.
I have used this for a couple of my children, and I find it to be very student friendly. The student completes one page a day in this workbook. Lessons consist of review of grammar concepts previously learned while adding variety so the student isn't bored. My kids never complained about having to do their daily grams. Very good curriculum.
I have been homeschooling for over 10 yrs. These have always been a part of our curriculum. They are easy to follow, grade and teach. They really fill in the gap between writing programs and language arts programs, with the, "how to". My 17 yr. old is now in 11th gr. A.P. english, in a public high school and on his first paper, he only had one mark, a typo. (yes it was his first time in public school as well)
