Your students will be the exception to the perception of geography-illiterate Americans! Thirty-six units present various geographical concepts with plenty of opportunities for real-life reinforcement examples. A teacher page introduces the week's lesson and includes notes on the skills taught, background information, defined vocabulary words and an answer key. Map pages illustrate the skills emphasized and may be reproduced for answer questions; two geography questions are given for each day of the week, progressing in difficulty from Monday to Friday. Challenge questions are included, and often need to be independently researched.
Daily Geography Practice Looks at the world in spatial terms, places and regions, physical systems, human systems, environment and society and uses of geography. 160 reproducible pages, softcover. Grade 2.
Thirty-six transparencies (that used to come with the old er edition of this book) are now available as a download with the code located on the inside of the front cover.

QNicky5 Stars Out Of 5Good productMay 4, 2011QNickyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The concept is simple; introduce a type of map rotating the area of the map. The private school and public school in my area went over one map each year and checked off geography for the year. Friends said their children hated the typical 4th grade "U.S. Regions" program. Since we had used the Daily Geography program, our child already knew the types of maps and had introductions to the states, so studying the regions could truly build on the commonalities between the regions and was more fun. At first we would do all 5 daily lessons on one map in one day. But later realized that splitting into several days gave our child an opportunity to see the map several times - this actually helped a lot with retention and we wish we had done that from the beginning (hard to resist but leads to better academic success).
Ingrid Mattes5 Stars Out Of 5April 16, 2009Ingrid MattesWe used Daily Geography for Grade 2 and 6 this year. It was a wonderful way to quickly learn and reinforce concepts. All of my girls enjoyed doing it. Each week there is a short lesson and then just a few questions each day on the lesson.
