Strobel, whose apologetics titles The Case for Christ and The Case for Faith have enjoyed strong popularity among evangelicals, approaches creation/evolution issues in the same simple and energetic style. The format will be familiar to readers of previous Case books: Strobel visits with scholars and researchers and works each interview into a topical outline. Although Strobel does not interview any "hostile" witnesses, he exposes readers to the work of some major origins researchers (including Jonathan Wells, Stephen Meyer and Michael Behe) and theistic philosophers (including William Lane Craig and J. P. Moreland). Strobel claims no expertise in science or metaphysics, but as an interviewer he makes this an asset, prodding his sources to translate jargon and provide illustrations for their arguments. At times, the interview format loses momentum as seams begin to show between interview recordings, rewrites, research notes and details imported from his subjects' CVs (here, Strobel's efforts at buffing his subjects' smart-guy credentials can become a little too intense). The most curious feature of the book-not uncommon in the origins literature but unusual in a work of Christian apologetics-is that biblical narratives and images of creation, and the significance of creation for Christian theology, receive such brief mention. Still, this solid introduction to the most important topics in origins debates is highly accessible and packs a good argumentative punch. After reading two of Lee Strobel's other books, I had been intending to read The Case for a Creator as well, but kept putting it off. Now I'm glad I didn't wait any longer. As I have come to expect from Lee, his books are excellent apologetics sources.
As in his past writings, he interviews scientists and experts in various fields, asking them tough questions to gain a greater understanding of the subject. The various fields of science covered include astronomy, biology, cosmology, physics and biochemistry. Due to the complex nature of these sciences, the book does tend to get technical at times and needs to be read carefully to fully understand what each scientist is trying to get across.
The main point of each interview and the entire book is that there is abundant scientific evidence to show that the universe was intelligently designed. To this end, they succeeded admirably. The underlying assumption of the scientists is that the Earth is very old. This is still consistent with a Biblical world view and in no way contradicts Genesis since the word day can also be understood as an indefinite period of time. It is also more consistent with scientific consensus for the age of the Earth. Of course, everyone was consistent in denying naturalistic evolution and giving the credit where it is due - to God of course.
This book was very helpful in resolving some of the conflicts I had between theology and science. As a result, I came to a better understanding of science and it strenghtened my faith as well. It left me with the impression that God's creation in totally amazing.

After I read and loved Case for Christ, I was very disappointed with this book. The thing that disappointed me was the book's stance on the age of the universe. In the beginning of the book the author claims he won't get into an old earth or young earth debate but focus on if there was a creator. I felt this was fair Ben Stein did a good job at this in the expelled movie. However throughout this book the assumption is made that the earth is millions of years old,directly contradicting the Genesis account. I still learned much from this book and am a big fan of Lee Strobel who has impacted my life through other books of his.

My husband is reading this book and does enjoy it. He says it very encouraging to learn about the latest facts concerning creation. It confirms my belief that the evolution theory is all wrong. God is great!!

A great book, but a little on the technical side. Its best to go a chapter at a time. However, the concepts and the book are well written. Lee Strobel does another top notch job! The Case for Christ, The Case for Faith, and The Case for a Creator should be on every Christian's book list for defending their faith.
