Publisher's Description

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"
—MATTHEW 6:26

God of All Creation recounts how a miniature dachshund taught her owner, James Robison, profound insights about life, faith, and God’s care for all of His creation. A devoted dog lover and co-host of the television program Life Today, James shares how the antics of his own dog, Princess, as well as observations from all animals
in creation, reveal "expressions of God’s love, lessons of His grace, warnings about sin, and other eternal truths."

Heart-warming stories and winsome line drawings bring to life the lessons James has learned from his pets and creatures living in the wild. And through his inspiration and spiritual insights, you, too, will learn to know God’s voice, to submit to Him, and to trust Him with your every need.

"I love that James did this book!" —BETH MOORE

"You are about to read some poignant lessons we can learn from pets and all creatures—a clear revelation of the love God has for each of us. I share what I’ve learned as I’ve watched, held, and loved our little Princess and as I’ve watched wild animals in nature. Only a God who truly loves us as individuals could bless us with such treasured moments with our pets and wildlife, if we will just take notice…

"A friend once said, ’If you can’t see God in everything, you won’t see God in anything.’ In this book we will explore…eternal truths as we consider our pets and other awesome residents of God’s vast creation."
—JAMES ROBISON

Editorial Reviews

Praise for God of All Creation

"I love that James did this book!"
—Beth Moore

"Who helps teach James Robison about the things of God? A theologian? A fellow Baptist preacher? A famous radio host? An important senator or governor? Would you believe it’s a small miniature dachshund? In God of All Creation, James delightfully shares the profound truths his little Princess has shown him about life, love, and living with our Master."
—Ruth Graham, author of In Every Pew Sits a Broken Heart and Fear Not Tomorrow, God Is Already There

"Scripture declares that nature offers us a glimpse into God’s power and personality. In The God of All Creation, James Robison beautifully unveils what the creatures around you communicate about you and your Creator. Get ready for a wild adventure!"
—Lisa Bevere, speaker for Messenger International and author of Lioness Arising

"The lessons that James draws from the antics of his beloved mini-dach, Princess, are predictably heartwarming but unpredictably insightful. As a past owner myself of a pair of these preposterously shaped creatures (Harley Davidson and Maximus Decimus), I resonate with the truths James mines from their endearing behavior and the Word of God and am greatly encouraged. I think you will be too."
—Dr. E. Andrew McQuitty, senior pastor of Irving Bible Church, Irving, Texas

"James loves Jesus. James loves people. And now we have learned that James loves animals. This is a delightful, fun-loving, and, yes, touching read that will appeal to cold and warm noses alike!"
—Kathy Troccoli, recording artist, author, and speaker

God of All Creation by James Robison is described as being life lessons from pets and wildlife. Mr. Robison teaches of God's plans and wishes for us by reminding us of the lessons taught in the Bible and further explaining them as he speaks of his love for his pet dogs (especially Princess his current dachshund) and of God's greater love and plans for us. Mr. Robison shares how watching the animals around us "reveal expressions of God's love, lessons of His grace, warnings about sin, and other external truths." He gives warm stories and life lessons that not only has he learned from the animals around him but also he gives inspiration and insight into how the reader can learn of God's love for us and his grace that He so willing gives to all believers who trust and submit to Him.

I liked this book. It is not a book told through the eyes of an animal which can get old and contrived but rather the writer reflects on the Bible's teaching and explains the many life lessons by giving stories that he has observed in nature most notably in pets or wildlife that one sees in their daily life. Jesus told his lessons in parables and Mr. Robison does much the same with animals in the starring role. My favorite stories were the dog who wouldn't learn and baby rattle snakes—who couldn't learn from them?

    {F.Y.I. I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.}

This book was absolutely awesome!! Who would have thought to relate our relationships with our pets to our relationship with God? Definitely not I. I like how James Robison (the author) draws so much revelation from ordinary interactions with his puppy Princess. I knew of God and how He loves us. But then James Robison brings forth that love in a whole new light.

I once had a dog, his name was a Rocky a rottweiler of course. He's been deceased for about years now. I reflect on how he was when I was younger and I make the connections with how God is with us. God loves us no matter what. And that's how I loved my dog. I loved him no matter what he did.

I'm still figuring out the full application of this book but I can say that I absolutely love it. It is in my reread section of my book shelf. I do know that I will take the initiative to love people and show that love NO MATTER WHAT. Especially with my children. James Robison touched on how as parents we tend to tell our children "that's what you get" when they do something they were told not to. He goes further to exhort us to love on them while we admonish them for not listening. This way they will see love in action even when they misbehave. And then they will understand that nothing they could ever do will change our love for them.

Not having cable or a satellite dish, I had never heard of Life Today TV, which reaches 300 million homes worldwide, or its host James Robinson. Plus, for all the good they may do, I'm leery of people who make a living by asking other people for money.

However, I do have a heart for furry, four legged friends-particularly those with paws and hooves-so I recently read Robinson's newly released book, "God of All Creation, Life Lessons from Pets and Wildlife" (WaterBrook Press, 2012).

While not overly original, the hardcover book with twenty-eight, easy-to-read meditations has a lot going for it. Animals for one. Deb Hoeffner's charming, black-and-white pencil illustrations for another. Third, it offers an easy presentation of Scripture told through the quirks and habits of animals. It's also a nice size easy to hold while sipping tea.

Within its 160-pages, Robinson shares insights about God and Christian living that he learned from his own pets and animals he's observed. Chapter twenty-four, "A Joyful Noise," describes his shock at the noise created by birds out in the country.

Robinson likens it to Psalm 22:3, which says, "The Lord inhabits the praises of His people." Or, as Robinson puts it, "_when we sing songs to the Lord, He shows up," a technique I have often used to deal with disappointment of discouragement.

I can grumble and worry. Or I can sing. The out-loud, stompin', shake-the-china version works best. As long as the neighbors don't call the cops.

So, if you're looking for a gift for an animal lover, or maybe for a teen or college student who may be reluctant to crack a 2,000-page Bible, these Scripture laced stories are a good bet. In three words: easy, encouraging, thoughtful.

And nowhere did the author ask for money.

    God of All Creation:

Life Lessons from Pets and Wildlife

by James Robinson with James Randall Robinson

Drawing on lessons he learned from his miniature dachshund Princess and other animals both domestic and wild James comes up with parallels to our relationship with God.

Often, we, like our pets, want to follow a certain course of action that could be harmful. God, just like a loving owner, steps in a directs us away from the danger. But there are times we just refuse to listen or learn and we get hurt.

We, like animals, need to watch out for traps. The traps set for us are various and can include love of money, lust, fears, worldly wisdom, and words(spoken without thought or in anger). Traps never look that bad until we have been caught.

We should be like our pets and desire to be with the one who has taken us into His family and opened His home to us. Jesus pointed out the Father's care of animals as an assurance that He would also care for us if we will just accept His love and care.

From page 4 of God of All Creation: "Jesus, the greatest person who ever lived, said, "Look at the birds" (Matthew 6:26), and Solomon, the wisest man, said, "Take a lesson from the ants" (Proverbs 6:6). Both our Savior and the man renowned for his wisdom understood the deeper truths that God reveals through His creation..." God of All Creation indeed shows us how true this is.

The delightful cover illustration of Princess made me want to read this book. Within the book are several other illustrations not enough to say it is illustrated (10 or 11) but they just add a little something extra to the book. The book is broken down into 29 chapters that are between 3 - 6 pages in length making it perfect for short devotional.

I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review but opinions expressed are my own.

God of All Creation; Life Lessons from Pets and Wildlife By James Robinson with James Randall Robinson.

With only 160 pages divided amongst 28 chapters it's a small(er) book. At first glance, skimming the pages I see several sketches and lots of bible verses and God references.

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"—MATTHEW 6:26

    "Heartwarming stories and winsome line drawings bring to the the lessons James has learned from his pets and creatures living in the wild. And through his inspiration and spiritual insights, you, too, will learn to know God's voice, to submit to him, and to trust Him with your every need." ~Taken from the back cover, this paragraph had me excited to read this book. From the very first chapter James jumps right into comparing lessons from pet to God;

"Often times, only my voice keeps Princess ({his mini dachshund}) from getting into trouble. If she listens and obeys, she will come back to the safety and provisions of her home. If not, all manner of trouble awaits............the same is true with people. Really, the question is not weather we will go astray. We will, because it it in our nature to do so. The question is, what we will do when God calls us back to His care? And, even more important, will we know God's voice when He does call?"

Written extremely well, a very easy read, this book stands out amongst all other "life lessons from pets book,". Why? James has a way of taking everything and relating it to God, his creative writing takes a simple thing and relates it so strongly to God, that you can't help but take his word to heart...Each chapter you not only enjoy James's relationship with an animal, but also how that animal can teach you so much about God, His amazing creation, and His love for you.

Being an animal lover I feel like this book has given me a better insight to the love, power, and wonder of God. Though not written as a Christian living book, I feel like this book can easily stand amongst that shelf (as well as the animal shelf).

If you've never read any type of "life lessons from pets" type book, I would advise you start here. A must read for all- even if you're not an animal lover like me, just give this book a chance.

I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review. I was asked to give my honest review on this book. This is my honest opinion of this book, if I didn't like it I would say so, it just so happened I really loved this book.
