Chan, senior pastor of Cornerstone Church in Simi Valley, Calif., offers a radical call for evangelicals to consider and emulate in this debut guide to living "crazy" for God. Chan's own life compels him to live with urgency, and with good reason. His mother died giving birth to him, his stepmother died when he was nine, and his dad when he was 12. As a pastor, Chan says that conducting weekly funerals for people younger than himself has likewise sobered him to life's unexpectedness and frailty. Chan writes with infectious exuberance, challenging Christians to take the Bible seriously. He describes at length the sorry state of "lukewarm" Christians who strive for a life characterized by control, safety and an absence of suffering. In stark contrast, the book offers real-life accounts of believers who have given all-time, money, health, even their lives-in obedience to Christ's call.Chan also recounts his own attempts to live "crazy" by significantly downsizing his home and giving away his resources to the poor.Earnest Christians will find valuable take-home lessons from Chan's excellent book. Like every book, maybe not everybody will connect with this, but I love it. Chan's heart for Jesus and his reminder of God's greatness and radical love speaks volumes. I recommend reading it and studying it as a group.

I had fallen away from gods love and had an affair on my wife. I was looking for another book to help me through this trying time and stumbled onto this book. I have not read the entire book but what I have read to this point has helped me back into gods light. This book has opened my eyes and my heart to the way god wants me to live my life. A speaker in the church I attend said we need to be pillars in our church as well as our community and this book is a road map to be a christian pillar. Why would god love a person who has committed the sin of adultry? Because he is our heavenly father and want us to have an intimate relationship with him. He has forgiven us of our sins so that we can walk with him on earth and in heaven for eternity. I can't wait to read the rest of this book. I open the pages and get excited to live my life through god. Fantastic book.

This is a great book. The title may deceptive to some, but pick this book up and read it and be challenged and encouraged at the same time.

This book is life changing. It is blunt and honest and makes you think about your own life and how you're living it plus it teaches you how to love God with everything. I thought it was amazing and I can't wait to read Chans next book.

I am gaining new appreciation for the word "relentless"--it is comforting to know that God does not intend to give up on me, way past the point where I'd give up on myself. The book is prompting me to relax a bit in my efforts to do "God's work" and just let Him work through me as He wishes, for His own glory. Time in this book is well spent.

I am a little more than halfway through this book and so far I am loving it. It's challenging to the core and refreshing also. Chan isn't afraid to state what needs to be said but everyone else is to scared to say. I'm really glad I got this book. I'd recommend it for every Christian...and non-Christian...to read.

Incredible, life-changing book. We are using it for a church-wide study with small groups. Each chapter evokes great discussion and desire for change.

WOW!! Great book for inspiring one to really becoming a friend of God. Chan, however, comes off as "holier than thou," and can, if you let him, turn you off from his own terrific message.
