Tell us a little about yourself. Mac McConnell sold an award winning business to form One Way Productions, spreading the Gospel dramatically with one-man Biblical dramas in churches, schools, youth camps and on location in Israel and Greece with over 600 presentations. Now, Mac authors historical novellas based on his dramas designed to reveal Yeshua through the personal life stories from eyewitnesses.
What was your motivation behind this project? As narrator and script writer of the Emmy Award wining Fort Lauderdale Christmas Pageant I was challenged to study the Gospel from the perspective of Simon Peter. Not just from Simon Peter, but as Simon Peter. Well the Bible exploded in my mind. Made it personal and visceral. I now used that "technique" in scripting and writing all I do.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? When I read any novel I tend to identify with the characters. That causes me to become inspired and "learn" vicariously. I pray that is exactly what my readers will do. Each character has a most important and personal story. When we see the Savior from someone else's point of view we will know more about Yeshua.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? My research demands deep study into the scriptures and the history of the life and times of Yeshua. My reward is knowing my Savior more intimately and more honestly.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Max Lacado drew me into each story in a most casual, yet profound way. Jerry Jenkins and Tim Lahaie in the Left Behind Series were a great influence. Gene Edwards motivated me to see things from the characters perspective. The best example of writing for me is "Peace Like a River" by Leif Enger.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: The greatest two joys I receive is, one - when I'm told someone gave my book as a gift and two, when anyone says, "when is your next books coming out. I hope the many will see my little books make perfect gifts for family, friends and the unchurched.
