Laura Ingalls Wilder was born in 1867 in the log cabin described in Little House in the Big Woods. She and her family traveled by covered wagon across the Midwest. Later, Laura and her husband, Almanzo Wilder, made their own covered-wagon trip with their daughter, Rose, to Mansfield, Missouri. There, believing in the importance of knowing where you began in order to appreciate how far you've come, Laura wrote about her childhood growing up on the American frontier. For millions of readers Laura lives on forever as the little pioneer girl in the beloved Little House books.Jody Wheeler is the illustrator of over forty books for children, including three picture books about Almanzo Wilder. She lives in New York City.

Tracy Phillips5 Stars Out Of 5March 28, 2008Tracy PhillipsI read the books in this series to my son (5) and daughter (3) and they both love all of them, but my son is happy that there are books about Almanzo and not just the girls. Highly recommended for both boys and girls :)
Cynthia Roach5 Stars Out Of 5November 3, 2007Cynthia RoachI began buying this set of books for my daughter when she was two years old. She is now six and we have eight of the books, but County Fair is her favorite by far. There is something about the big, beautiful pictures and simple story that appeals to her. She likes the books about Laura and Mary too, but this one about Almanzo is the one she always comes back to.
