For the faithful and the seeker- the inspiring New York Times bestseller from the author of The Reason for God.
Harsh economic realities are casting new light on the pursuits of sex, money, and success for happiness: careers, fortunes, marriages, and retirement security have collapsed. Many feel lost, disenchanted, and resentful.
In this inspiring new book, Timothy Keller, one of the country's most popular spiritual guides, reveals the unvarnished truth about faith, our hearts' desires, and the pursuit of happiness-and where all of it can ultimately be found.
As the founding pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City, Tim Keller started his congregation with a few dozen people. It now draws over five thousand weekly attendees who meet in three Manhattan locations. Redeemer has since spawned a movement of churches across America and throughout major world cities. Many pastors model their churches on Redeemer and Tim's thoughtful style of preaching. Dr. Keller lives in New York City with his wife and sons.

This hits big wigs, it hits your friends, your relatives and then (hopefully), most of all, it hits YOU (and you may be a big wig!).
It is so well written that it's easy to read and understand, but it needs to be read slowly to get the impact and take it to heart. It's deep and profound.
I HIGHLY recommend "Counterfeit Gods."

Included are analysis of various Bible heroes and their stories as well.
Always a good read but very timely just now in the face of our world's financial and other issues.
mvanderCalgary, AB5 Stars Out Of 5Insightful, well written, impactful, excellent!May 20, 2011mvanderCalgary, ABQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have read most of it twice and have given additional copies to friends and coworkers. CGs addresses a topic so dominant in Scripture, yet this was the first book that I have seen or read on the subject of idolatry. It has been the book that has impacted me on my journey with Christ more that any other that I have read in years! I learned so much about myself that I just had not realized. I loved "The Resson fore God" for my mind and CGs for my heart.
Like many books the, most powerful part is at the beginning and the end not as much. That being said, the latter part discussed "National Idolatry" and was helpful in understanding history and various regimes like Nazi Germany.
