Good book
The only problem that I have with this book is that it is about Nebraska and you have the state of Kansas several places on the book. Someone wasn't paying attention or doesn't know their states.

Great pieces of history in WWII
I love the 3 subjects that Cara picked out for this trilogy. All Nebraska during WWII but in separate parts of Nebraska. First up we have North Platte and the Canteen where the community fed soldiers as they went cross country on the trains. Second there was the dog and horse training Fort in Northwest Nebraska and then thirdly there was the German POW camp outside of Holdrege in Atlanta, Nebraska. In each case Cara weaves a story of romance amidst tough times and trials. I love this set!

I found this book fairly disappointing. The first story based on fact about the canteen at the train station feeding soldiers traveling to war held my interest. However the next story about dog trainers and pets being trained for war was only just readable. I couldn't finish the last story about prisoners working on farms and an alcoholic farmer with a very strong willed daughter.

I've only read Captive Dreams, but I have no doubt the other two stories will be just as enjoyable.Captive Dreams is a story about letting go of control and allowing God to lead your life's course. In this book you will follow Anna Goodman and Sid Chance, two characters who are stubborn enough to try and walk their own path and not God's.Anna feels like she needs to fix everything. The farm is falling apart. She'll take care of it. There's a war going on. She'll stuff parachutes for the boys overseas. Her father is sunk into a deep depression. She'll bring him out, some way, some how.Sid also has trouble seeing God's plan for his life, and mostly his troubles involved a certain lady who can get under his skin faster than anything.Cara Putman writes beautifully. Her descriptions and images pushed me along in a 1940's world where I cheered and despaired for Anna and Sid's triumphs and challenges. Ms. Putman makes it easy to read and get involved with her characters. I highly recommend Captive Dreams!!
