A front row seat to a fascinating conversation between God, Jesus, and other biblical characters answering important questions about life and faith.
A Conversation with God allows readers a one-on-one dialogue with God, his son Jesus, and other important men and women from the Bible as they respond to questions and concerns relevant to the Christian faith. The questions, in some cases hard-hitting, cover issues that have troubled believers and seekers since the beginning of time. Each answer is based on Scripture and written with the warmth and intimacy of a Heavenly Father relating to His child.
Categories and sample questions include:
- God, how can we believe that You created us?
- Why weren't all early writings included in the Bible?
- How should we prepare for the end of the world?
- Jesus, can I lose my salvation?
- What will we look like in heaven?
- God, does choice extend to abortion?

This book is easy to read. It is done in conversational context. The author poses questions that are common among believers at some point during their walk. And then he replies, based on scripture, from the viewpoint of God.
It is a well-written piece but it was not really my preferred way to read about God's answers to believer's questions. I guess I might be more of a Bible study kind of girl. I don't know. But I just do not really like the format for this book.
I'm sure that the conversational approach appeals to some, but I am not in that group. I would much prefer direct quotations from scripture with commentary from the author, but to have it written as if it were God writing it? It just makes it seem a bit "off".
Overall, I'd have to say this is a good resource if you have questions, but as I would recommend with any book written about the Bible, always be sure to double check references and make your own inferences from the Bible directly.

Alton Gansky, the author has presented this book in a manner which you, the reader is seemingly conversing with God. The questions are common and yet we don't really have the answers ready. This book may have some of those nagging questions and more.
Each chapter is concise and reference to biblical context is mentioned at the back of the book so readers can read the verses on their own.
I like the way that it can be read in any order just as how the author has intended it to be because there are no conclusions to jump at.
It is revealing and yet gives you something to think about and the usage of words are simple and easily comprehensible.
I recommend this to believers and non-believers due to the fact that this book is not written for Christians along but for everyone else regardless of their spiritual orientation.

Alton Gansky brings a new approach to answering questions as if they were told straight from God, Jesus and other known biblical characters. Alton provides a scripture guide in the back that allows discussions among small groups who may study the most important topics of our Christian faith in each chapter.
It took a little time getting used to how the questions were being presented as if they were from God and Jesus themselves, which also seemed to help bring the Bible alive. It was also great going through the material that focused on the most important topics of our Christian faith. The notes section in the back was helpful by providing all the scriptures for each chapter and what version they originate from. I recommend this to individuals and small groups who may have any doubts or concerns about their faith and those who are looking to deepen their spiritual walk Christ.

I recently received a copy of this book from Thomas Nelson Publishers. I was originally attracted to this book because it appeals to the average person. If you were to walk by this book in the bookstore you might stop and crack this one open just to see if your nagging question is addressed therein.
There are 55 questions that are addressed on different topics. The topics are: God, Bible, The Future, Pain and Suffering, Jesus, Kingdom of God, Heaven and Hell, Humanity, Christian Living, and Today's World. Each of these topics has at least five questions which are addressed.
So the answer given to the questions are not just quotations from the Bible. While this makes this type of book very risky to write, it turns out pretty well. The author runs the risk of speaking for God. Not a charge that he should take lightly. He pulls it off! He pulls it off by offering answers to the different questions not only from "God" but also from other biblical figures. You will see Paul, Jesus, Job, Jonah, Joshua, Lazarus, Moses etc. show up to help answer the questions as well. This make this book more like a conversation than just a Q and A book.
So, what about the theology? From what I can tell it is Evangelical. Not Calvinistic, but straightforward. The answers seem pretty good actually! Sometime the long route is taken to get to the root of the issue. That way the background can be set for a correct understanding of the answer. I am very pleased with this book overall. If you have a friend who asks a lot of questions, consider this book.

I've always had a list of questions for God in my head. Then I would tell myself that one day He would give me the answer when He thinks I'm ready for it. Maybe I won't be ready for it, and maybe I won't like the answer, but if God says it, it is so.
I didn't know if I was going to enjoy this book at first. I actually did! Most of the questions in the book are geared towards new believers in Christ who need a clearer understanding of the Bible and what God is teaching us through scripture. The more mature Christians can definitely use this book to freshen up on topics they may have forgotten or even use as a reference book for studies. I know I was reminded of things I had forgotten while reading this book.
The chapters are split up into different categories. There are questions about God, Jesus, the Bible, the future, heaven and hell, etc. I love how they have it set up like that. This way if you don't have time to read the whole book, you can read from certain topics. And then the way they answer the questions...it's like watching a talk show. The Biblical View with special guests God, His son Jesus, their friend Paul, and many others. They have it layed out with us the "viewer" asking the question and them answering with biblical truth to back up their answers. Alton Gansky did a great job making things easily understandable.
