Publisher's Description

Parenting young children is an all-consuming task that can make moms feel isolated, disconnected, and ineffective beyond the walls of their own home. They want to have a part in the bigger scheme of things, to have real friends, and to make the world their children will inherit a better place.

In this witty, encouraging book, Tracey Bianchi guides moms on a journey toward celebrating and discovering the underlying rhythm of their lives and how that rhythm pulls them into vibrant relationships. Through stories of her own life as a mom and the experiences of others, she shows moms how to gracefully engage the people who cross their paths rather than viewing others as tasks on a list. She also offers a way to find balance in this busy exercise called motherhood.

Author Bio

Tracey Bianchi is the author of Green Mama and has been an active speaker, writer, and participant with MOPS for over seven years. She has three young children, a fabulous husband, and a goldfish named Stinky Pete. They live in the Chicago area where Tracey serves as a ministry leader at Christ Church of Oak Brook and maintains a freelance career that includes speaking and writing for a wide variety of organizations. She earned her MDiv from Denver Seminary and needs a ton of coffee to make all of this work.

Endorsements

"In Mom Connection, Tracey Bianchi reaches up and unzips every mom's heart and makes us instantly friends with her. Real. Winsome. Approachable. Like us but still herself, Tracey convinces us we can connect. And once we realize we've connected with her, we're ready and prepared to connect with all the others in our lives."
--Elisa Morgan, president emerita, MOPS International; publisher, FullFill; author, She Did What She Could

"Every mom knows that amidst its many blessings, the journey of motherhood brings its share of challenges. Tracey Bianchi understands what you are experiencing and provides comfort, candor, counsel, and companionship through the pages of this deeply encouraging book. Your heart, soul, and mind will be nourished and fed by Tracey's wit and wisdom, and after reading Mom Connection, you'll appreciate anew the essential truth that you need not travel this journey alone. Every mom I know should read this book!"
--Helen Lee, author of The Missional Mom and cofounder of Redbud Writers Guild

"Such intimacy and wisdom! This practical and fun read encourages moms everywhere--motherhood may not always be 'peppy bliss,' yet in the midst of it we find our unique groove by connecting with our own hearts, families, friends, and God."
--Shayne Moore, activist; author, Global Soccer Mom

"If you've ever felt alone as a mom, you must read this book! Reading it is like sitting down for coffee with a hip mentor mom (who still has preschoolers at home), and listening to her realistic, witty advice and authentic, fearless admission of her own insecurities and questions. Instead of just saying 'be yourself,' Tracey Bianchi says, 'You are not alone!' and offers specific ways to find friends and thrive as a mom. Her 'mom-tested tips' in each chapter are practical, doable, inspiring. She offers specific ways that we can trust ourselves (and God!) enough to find meaningful connections with others that will empower us as moms. Highly recommended!"
--Keri Wyatt Kent, popular MOPS speaker and author of Deeper into the Word and Breathe

Many of think we don't have time for real relationships. Tracey teaches us that it is just the opposite--it is actually these kind of relationships that refuel, encourage, and uplift us. Tracey talks about finding our "rhythm" as a mom. She says "If we find the right balance and cadence, which is so very doable for us moms, we just may thrive during motherhood." She addresses topics such as asking for help, discovering our passion (everyone has "one big thing" as she puts it), making time for hobbies, balancing extended family, making our marriage a priority, volunteering, and living out our relationship with Christ in a way that makes a difference in our world. She shares from her heart without dishing up any guilt.

The part of this book I was especially excited to read was about connecting with others. She includes connecting with our husbands in this. But, I was really interested to hear what she had to say about connecting with other women. Sometimes it feels like some friendships are in limbo during motherhood. There just isn't the time to invest in my friendships that I once did. And, making new friends seems almost completely overwhelming to me.

One of my favorite things that Tracey said on this topic of developing friendships was this...."We needed time to build history together.", she says of a group of women she felt connections to but was still getting to know. "So, take the risk to connect and then sit back and give that friendship the space and time it takes to grow."

I loved that! I sometimes felt guilty or bad that, while I've met many women since becoming a mom, it's been hard for me to develop that closeness that I crave in these new friendships. Part of it, I know, is me needing to reach out more & make time to spend with them. But, part of it, too, is just that - the need for time. Close friendships form over time.

Its like a great Bible lesson. It doesn't matter how many times you read it, it always speaks to you again and again, at different times, in different seasons of life, and always at the right time, when you need it most!

I love the book - Bianchi's clear and practical advice to moms (especially to those who under the influence of "parenting fog" in their kids' early years) is life-giving and will help readers remember who they are as women. I love her advice about saying "no" (could have used that a decade ago!) as well as ideas for creating grace-filled friendships (ditto). This book is a lifeline for moms.

Written in an easy-to-read, conversational style, this book offers "Mom Tested Tips" at the end of each chapter, as well as questions to reflect upon and a list of additional resources. These helpful tools are an added bonus, allowing the reader to do something with what they've read.

One of my favorite quotes from this book was,"Chaos will not disappear at this life stage, but we can change how we face it." What a great reminder that even though there will always be a cloud of crazy that hangs out in my house, I'm ultimately responsible for how I choose to live my life. I can become a hermit, refusing to invite anyone over because my house is not clean enough, or I can slide the laundry off the couch and reach out to those around me.
