Tell us a little about yourself. I started writing in grade school, poems mostly. My best work ever was a poem my dad carried in his wallet, where I found it after he died. It was worn to shreds. I'm a mom, a step-mom and a grandma. I write in the woods in Wisconsin, watching the seasons and alert for inspiration.
What was your motivation behind this project? I read one article too many about how to be a prayer warrior...articles that made me feel I was "failing" somehow as a Christian. I just knew...well, I HOPED there were others feeling the same way...not quite "measuring up" as warriors, but just bumbling along, hoping that our prayers were heard...
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I want readers to know that God hears ALL our prayers, the ones we offer from our knees in the cathedral as well as the ones we offer as we clean up the mess in the kitchen, or wipe our toddler's face, or tuck the notes into the kids' lunches or sit beside a hospital bed.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I was blessed to work on this book, to think about all the answers I've had to prayer. That was so encouraging to me, just knowing that God DOES hear and he DOES answer. And to "relive" the story of the carrots--a miracle, no question--was delightful!
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I love CS Lewis. I didn't grow up in a Christian home. I didn't read the Chronicles of Narnia until I was in my 40s, and every book in the series had something--a "God sighting"--that simply took my breath away. That's how I define great writing--connecting with a reader in that breathless way.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I feel incredibly humbled by people saying they enjoy my writing, or that God used it to touch them or change them in some way. What a privilege it is to write for Him! And thank you, thank you, THANK YOU readers for encouraging me to do it! :-) May YOU be blessed just as you've blessed me!
