Terrible Binding - Oxford should be ashamed

I cherish the Book of Common Prayer. It is second only to the Bible on my list of treasured resources for Christian growth. So when I lost my personal sized hardcover Oxford BCP, I thought it would be nice to get the larger Reader's Edition with Genuine Leather binding. It was more expensive, but I thought it would be a worthy investment.
I received the book today, and I have never been so disappointed in a product. That Oxford would bind the Book of Prayer between such shoddy covers is a travesty. So much so that I decided against ordering the Oxford Annotated NRSV Bible. The covers are, as another reviewer pointed out, stiff pieces of cardboard with a leather veneer glued on. Appalling. This book deserves much better.
Oxford needs to get this message: The Anglican Communion wants a Book of Common Prayer with a HIGH QUALITY BINDING. Soft, supple leather with pages sewn, not glued, into place. I will pay a premium for this because I consider it an heirloom to pass on to someone I love. This product does not begin to qualify.
It is a pity, because everything else is wonderful. Good print, wonderful gold-gilded pages. Nice...very nice.
It is sitting in the box on my kitchen table. I think I will either send it back or have it rebound.
This is by far the best text block I have seen for the Book Of Common Prayer. But this is NOT genuine leather. It is, at best, Bonded leather. This is really not much more than paper back. But the text block is truly beautiful. I intend to keep it and have it re-bound, but I did expect more at this price, and I have to wonder if I wouldn't have done better to get the "imitation leather" edition.
Fantastic: it is just what I needed. Print is readable, room for notations to be made, the fact that it contains both lectionaries is a nice feature. Very satisfied, would highly recommend, especially over the smaller personal edition.
