Set in the heavenlies as the backdrop, Doug Shafer leads readers through the angelic political labyrinth that may have existed before creation. With Michael and Lucifer and Gabriel as the main characters--Lucifer as the leader of Worship, the reader is afforded a behind the scenes view of what if? Shafer paints beautifully lyrical scenarios describing Lucifer's betrayal to God and his coup d'etat with one-third of the angels in heaven. While the new planet Earth is being formed by God, Lucifer weaves his plot with the other angels for absolute control of Earth. By promising future benefits for present loyalties this "novel" shows Lucifer's enormous political and persuasive ability.

Cynthia Caruso5 Stars Out Of 5February 15, 2008Cynthia CarusoI really enjoyed reading this book. The author convincingly puts into words what it might be like if we had been there. And he makes it easy to identify those battles we have within ourselves. He shows how manipulative Lucifer is, and for me brought back all the things I learned and had forgotten. I just started book two, and I don't think I will be disappointed.
karyn5 Stars Out Of 5December 11, 2007karyni know people say this, but..........i have NEVER read a book that hooked me in the first chapter. this one did. i have finished the entire series and felt let down that it was over. my understanding was that another sequel in this series was in the works. is this true? Shafer has a definite gift of conveying simple truths in a grand style. absolutely loved each book in the series.
Chris Barnes5 Stars Out Of 5June 29, 2003Chris BarnesExcellent Adventure! I just finished book one and am ordering books 2 & 3 right now. I have always wondered what exactly could make an angel (Lucifer) who knew and was surrounded by God from the beginning think he could wage war against the very One who created him. Fascinating fictional portrayal of what might have been!

Tell us a little about yourself. I am a pastor on staff at Valley Christian Center in Dublin, CA. I have a doctorate in ministry and am loving California with my wife and two daughters.
What was your motivation behind this project? The book actually began as a conversation I was having with a friend that expanded into thoughts on paper and eventually a book. The compelling question centered on Lucifer's fall from heaven and developing a plausible story around what the Bible tells us about those events. I also wanted to write a book that was fun to read and would draw people of backgrounds into the story.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope people gain a new sense of God's awesome ability to be a longsuffering and totally control Person who responds to the poor choices of His creatures in love and grace when He can, but in decisive judgment when He must. Lucifer's mistake in the book is assuming that the Lord will not move against him and thus admit that one of His own could actually turn on Him. Pride at its best.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I love to read history because history is a compilation of the choices of men and women mixed with out of control circumstances and dumb luck. We make our own destinies by our choice to follow the Lord or not, and this truth really helped me in writing this book. My inspiration for Lucifer came from a montage of screen villains that I remember--from James Bond bad guys who are cold, charismatic and calculating, to slimy mobster types. I also enjoy good litertaure and am currently reading Kipling's Jungle Books to my kids.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Please realize that this is a fictional account built around the truth as given in scripture. I am in no way maintaining that these are the events that happened in heaven before the fall of Lucifer. But I think that readers will discover that the attitude of subtle pride and its consequences is the main theme of the book.
