Author Bio

Clive Staples Lewis (1898-1963) was one of the intellectual giants of the twentieth century and arguably one of the most influential writers of his day. He was a Fellow and Tutor in English Literature at Oxford University until 1954, when he was unanimously elected to the Chair of Medieval and Renaissance Literature at Cambridge University, a position he held until his retirement. He wrote more than thirty books, allowing him to reach a vast audience, and his works continue to attract thousands of new readers every year. His most distinguished and popular accomplishments include Mere Christianity, Out of the Silent Planet, The Great Divorce, The Screwtape Letters, and the universally acknowledged classics The Chronicles of Narnia. To date, the Narnia books have sold over 100 million copies and been transformed into three major motion pictures.

Timeless Tales of Wonder and Biblical Truths I purchased the omnibus edition of the "Chronciles of Narnia" to utilize with the literary analysis class I was teaching using Thomas Williams "The Heart of the Chronicles of Narnia." I wanted a text which contained all seven stories that I could take to class with me each day. The "Chronciles of Narnia" were written by C.S. Lewis a professor/theologian who taught at Oxford and Cambridge Universities. The stories consists of seven books, "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Silver Chair, The Magician's Nephew, The Horse and His Boy and The Last Battle." The books in this edition are arranged in chronological of the order in which the stories take place. The stories are a delightful read for both children and adults. They are timeless tales of wonder which present Biblical truths. January 25, 2013

When I was four years old, my parents started reading me the series. LWW was always my favorite, and even as a child, I saw that Aslan died for Edmund, just as Jesus died for us. Every time I read the Chronicles of Narnia, I get something new out of them. When someone reads the Chronicles in an allegorical fashion, it gives you an entirely new perspective on Christ and what He did for us on the Cross. I recommend these books to anyone, child or adult, who wants to expand their mind and imagination and grasp hold of some important life lessons as only a master storyteller like C.S. Lewis can do.
