CBHoldorfSouthwest GeorgiaAge: 25-34Gender: male4 Stars Out Of 5Good resource on ChristmasDecember 31, 2012CBHoldorfSouthwest GeorgiaAge: 25-34Gender: maleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4I found this to be a very good resource for information on topics surrounding the birth of Christ. I was shocked at how many books on Christmas are written from a liberal perspective and do not accept the Christmas story as real history. This book, however, is written from a conservative evangelical perspective (obviously, being from the Wiersbe's) and upholds the historicity of the Christmas story, including the virgin birth. If you are looking for an informative book on Christmas, this is it.
Wanda CostinakOntarioAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5E is for ExtensiveDecember 19, 2012Wanda CostinakOntarioAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4C is for Christmas turned out to be very different than I expected, but it was not a disappointment! I had expected a light, easy read that I could quickly translate into the elementary classroom. What I found was an extensive and, at times, profound resource that dug deeper into the Christmas story than I had seen before. There are many places where Scripture is explored in new ways and at the end of each entry the authors send you on a journey of further study in the book. While this is not a book that can easily be read in one sitting, it is a resource that I will refer to over and over again throughout the Christmas seasons to come. I recommend it for Sunday school teachers, pastors or any others who want to dig deeper into the characters, events and true meaning of the birth of Jesus.
I give this book 4 stars out of 5.

RamblingsMomOntarioAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Easy guide, learn more about Christmas historyNovember 29, 2012RamblingsMomOntarioAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4C is for Christmas includes a table of contents to make searching for specific topics quick and easy. I did find that some topics I would have liked to read about were not included. Well, one is particular: Christmas trees. However, there is a lot of information in this guide. From Angels to King Herod, Caesar to Yuletide, there is a lot to learn from this book.
Each topic includes Scripture references, so you'd probably want to keep a Bible close on hand. A wise thing to have nearby, either way!
Each topic also includes a list of related subjects to look up for more information. Many topics are also divided into sub-topics. For example, when you read you about Joseph, the chapter is divided into Joseph the man, Joseph the husband, and Joseph the foster father of Jesus. This makes it even easier to find a specific piece of information you might be looking for.
Overall, I think this is a handy resource to have. I would have liked to find out more about the history of some of our Christmas traditions, but the book is more geared toward the history of Christmas itself; Christ's birth. Of course there is nothing wrong with that! I think I just had it in my head that it was going to be something a bit different so I had to change my mindset away from the history and meaning of Christmas symbols and tradition and focus on the history and meaning of Christ's birth itself.
