An excellent, realistic video presentation mixed with Biblical analysis by Pastor Kyle of what it must have been like that first Christmas. The dialog includes scriptural quotes plus possible scenarios/conversations that bring the story to life. Although some props/scenery were probably inaccurate (more like modern nativity scene ideas) overall the portrayals give a realistic understanding of what it was like for all those involved. More importantly each lesson has a clear application to our lives today based on the examples set by all who had a part in the Christmas story. I used it in our adult Sunday School class and highly recommend it.
We used this as an all-church focus for the current Christmas Season. It has been well received by almost all of those attending our small group venues. We had much discussion about where our thoughts about these stories come from: movies, songs, stories, traditions or the Bible. It was fun to dig in and find out where our ideas were formulated and caused many to dig deeper into the Word of God. We had an overwhelmingly positive response from those involved and had approximately 30-40% of our congregation involved. We had previously used the Easter Experience and it too was well thought of.
The Christmas Experience brought the people who lived through the birth of Jesus to life with our everyday emotions and applied those fears, experiences, and questions home. I plan to used the teaching DVDs again in 2014 showing one episode per Sunday for the six weeks prior to Christmas. I recommend it highly.
Presented this study with a Men's Bible Study group and it was well received by all. Even though this group is a seasoned group of Christian men and they have heard the Christmas story many times throughout their lives, it was interesting to all in the group. Why, because Pastor Kyle presents the story offering us insight on the human condition of Joseph and Mary. He takes some liberties to fill in how Joseph and Mary (being human) may have felt during this miracle from God. But it doesn't water down God's Word in the process instead it sets thought provoking moments for us to ponder and to go further in God's Word. I can't say enough about the gift that God has given to Pastor Kyle as a Teaching Pastor. Our men's group has viewed and studied a few other works created by Pastor Kyle and once again we were NOT disappointed. The presentation is also very well put together to reach a new Christian or a person curious to know more about the Lord. Anxiously awaiting his next work or release.
