Read this book, but don't bother with The Christmas Shoppe & The Christmas Dog. This book is so much better than both of them! Small town life is revealed through the eyes of the owners of the local bed & breakfast. A hideous bus, a pregnant lady & a Christmas pageant turn this small town upside down.
A charming story about a small town who celebrates Christmas all year, but because of this a lot of people have lost the true meaning of Christmas. When the owner of the local B&B decides to take in guests for the holidays because her own family can't make it home for Christmas, we are introduced to a cast "colorful" characters including a young couple who are due to become parents at any moment, stubborn elderly woman who bring a real authenticity to the local church's Christmas pageant, and a cranky church goer who realizes just what Christmas is meant to be.
I love Melody Carlson's writing. She has a wonderful way of getting to the heart of a story. Her characters are written well and her story line always keeps my attention.
The Christmas Bus was a very lighthearted book. It reminds us of what Christmas is really about, and sometimes that blessings are hidden in strange packages. The book begins with a couple traveling in a peculiar bus, and they end up in a town called Christmas Valley. When the bus breaks down infront of an inn. Then the story picks up with the inn keeper. She just receives news that her children will not be coming home for Christmas. Then she is inspired by her husband's message. He of course is a Pastor. She opens up her inn for Chirstmas and meets some interesting guest. The book is a joy to read, and it has a wonderful Chirstmas message that we should keep with us always. This book was given to me for free from ChristianBooks.com and I was not influenced in any way.
