For centuries theology has made the expiatory death of Jesus bear the weight of our redemption by itself. But F.X. Durrwell has shown that Christ's death forms only part of a unique mystery with the resurrection, and that it finds its deepest meaning in that relationship. For him, God's revealed mystery can be compared to a cathedral, where every part comprises the whole and each element has its meaning only when integrated into that whole. The keystone of that wonderful edifice, then, is Christ, the Son of God raised in his death. All of Durrwell's works deal with this subject, viz., the ressurection of Jesus in the mystery of salvation.
More than a half century ago Father Durrwell published his groundbreaking work that showed that the Resurrection is truly part of the whole mystery of redemption and salvation, not merely a validation of faith. In Christ Our Passover, Father Durrwell gathers together the components of his earlier research. The resulting synthesis is an admirable testament to the work of this exacting theologian, who has left a profound mark on the history of theology.
