With so many Bible translations available today, how can you find those that will be most useful to you? What is the difference between a translation that calls itself literal and one that is more meaning-based? And what difference does it make for you as a reader of Gods Word? How to Choose a Translation for All Its Worth brings clarity and insight to the current debate over translations and translation theories. Written by two seasoned Bible translators, here is an authoritative guide through the maze of translations issues, written in language that everyday Bible readers can understand. Learn the truth about both the word-for-word and meaning-for-meaning translations approaches. Find out what goes into the whole process of translation, and what makes a translation accurate and reliable. Discover the strengths and potential weaknesses of different contemporary English Bible versions. In the midst of the present confusion over translations, this authoritative book speaks with an objective, fair-minded, and reassuring voice to help pastors, everyday Bible readers, and students make wise, well-informed choices about which Bible translations they can depend on and which will best meet their needs.

It helped to answer the questions that I had about how and who translated the Holy Bible from Greek and Hebrew and Aramaic to English. It also helped me to better understand the popular English translations since the KJV.
Alan SmiddyBenton, KYAge: 45-54Gender: Male5 Stars Out Of 5June 5, 2008Alan SmiddyBenton, KYAge: 45-54Gender: MaleMy wish would be that every Christian read this book, barring that at least every Minister and Pastor. I was blown away by its easy readability, concise detail of translation issues yet in-depth coverage of such a complicated topic! If only it were possible to give this gem 10 stars!
Ernest Low5 Stars Out Of 5May 1, 2008Ernest LowI wish this came out in the early days when I was a Christian. I was bewildered where translations can be so different and why the NIV had a large passage that was missing when compared to the KJV. (Although this was not dealt with specifically in this book.)I strongly all Christians to read this book to better understand the difficulties English Bible translators have to deal with. To me it is a thankless task where one will always be opened to criticism because of disagreements of the translation. For those who are concerned about TNIV, you should read this as well as debates on this translation found on the web. You will realise that the TNIV is not gender inclusive - God is still 'He'. Read the Gender and Accuracy chapter for a better understanding of the issues at hand. The conclusion would be to have a few versions to be used as no one version is perfect.
