Children's Minister3 Stars Out Of 5Easy to Read BibleAugust 12, 2015Children's MinisterQuality: 3Value: 4Meets Expectations: 3I have given this Bible out for the past three years to the rising first graders at our church as their first Bible. It is a great translation. I have studied both Greek and Hebrew and even translated passages of both languages and found this to be a very faithful translation. I know another reviewer has questioned some of the word choices, but when the word "heart" is used in this context if often means what you believe with your whole self, in our current culture mind is often a more accurate word to convey the meaning of the text. The biggest issue I have had with this Bible is that the cover seems to easily detach from the pages. It really need to be better reinforced or placed in a cover if it is going to be carried or used much...especially by children!
Nana1 Stars Out Of 5Easy-to-Read Children's BibleJanuary 26, 2015NanaQuality: 1Value: 1Meets Expectations: 1I spent a great deal of time looking at this bible in the store and purchased it as a gift for my grandson because It seemed to be a good translation, type size and over all appearance was good. Today I was inspired to do an in-the-moment quick bible reference due to an animated program he was watching. I first looked for the verse in my KJV and then found it in the Easy-to-Read Children's Bible (Jeremiah 17:9). The verse is concerned with the heart however; this translation used the word mind. "Nothing can hide its evil as well as the human MIND..." KJV: "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" A child can read the word heart as well as the word mind. Why change the word? We live in a time when people are following their hearts and getting into a lot of trouble as a result. It is by renewing the mind with Gods word that one becomes strong and can overcome the emotions/feelings and leading of the heart. I am VERY disappointed, will throw this bible away; there is no telling what other verses as miss represented in this version.
