Beverly Lewis was born in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country. She fondly recalls her growing-up years, and due to a keen interest in her mother's Plain family heritage, many of Beverly's books are set in Lancaster County.

The lives of these four people and those closest to them are followed through an interlacing plot, keeping the reader alert to any clues as to the direction these lives will take. I am very impressed at the seamless blending of the lives of these characters, having no clue as to which author is developing any particular scene. David and Beverly Lewis have composed a deep, emotion packed novel with continuity and integrity. I highly recommend this book!

This book took hold on my emotions! It was interesting from the start, but about half way through, I just could not put it down! It was a roller coaster ride of cheering on the characters, experiencing their pains and joy, and the feeling of knowing the characters personally.
Every time I thought I had it figured out... The authors threw in a new twist. On a deeper level, this book is also about choices, consequences, forgiveness, truth, reality, and issues people deal with daily. You will find much food for thought as you read this book. It certainly makes you take a look inside you.
Something that spoke to me in this story, was Kelly's feeling of desertion by her friends and community after years of searching for her child. The people are tired of your problems attitude. After searching for her daughter for eight years, there were very few supporters out there. She gave up all she had, time, money, to keep looking. She withdrew from people. It reminded me of the importance of being supportive, sticking by people even when their trials seem to be hopeless, or not necessarily have an end in sight. We need to be careful not to judge, or tell people to "just get over it". It's not always that simple.
Although the outcome of the book is positive - thank goodness! The ending is not exactly what you expect. I highly recommend this book - You will be surprised!

Izzy5 Stars Out Of 5Child of MineAugust 25, 2014IzzyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Beverly Lewis has been my favorite Amish fiction author since her first book, The Shunning, which got me "hooked". I kept putting off purchasing Child of Mine, which she co-authored with her husband, David Lewis. I continually would see it advertised in the catalogs I receive from CBD, read the description, but not add it to my list of "want to reads". Certainly, to a degree, it is a bit different than most of Lewis' novels. However, it has quickly become one of my favorites!
I have only read through approximately two-thirds of the book at this point, but am thoroughly enjoying the read. Usually, I am able by this point in a book, to kind of guess what the outcome will be. However, not this time! I find that I am trying to read a chapter or two every day because as the book goes along, it becomes more intriguing. I am looking forward to the ending. (Sometimes I almost want to cheat and read the last chapter!)
This is the first book I have read that was written by both authors. I may just consider reviewing the books that David Lewis wrote.
