Publisher's Description

From Bestselling Authors David & Beverly Lewis

Eight excruciating years ago, Kelly Maines's baby was kidnapped. Determined to find her child, Kelly has tirelessly pursued every lead to its bitter end. And now, with the clock ticking, one last clue from a private investigator ignites a tiny flame of hope: Just a few miles away lives a young girl who matches the profile.

Can this be, at long last, Kelly's beloved daughter?

This review was written for Child of Mine.
A Child of Mine is the second novel that David and Beverly Lewis have co-written, and I certainly hope it is not their last. They have put together a heartwarming story that has major twists and turns throughout.

The characters drew me in quickly, and I was thoroughly engaged as their full stories came to light rather gradually. The more I learned of each one, though, I couldn't imagine any possible conclusion that could leave all of them living "happily ever after." Without giving any spoilers, I will warn that there is a fair amount of heartbreak along the way, mixed in with a good deal of happiness. Be prepared to shed a few tears as you read.

A Child of Mine is not typical Beverly Lewis Amish fare. There is an Amish character who fits in a major way into the main story line, but much of the story is non-Amish. The storytelling is still great, though, even in a more contemporary setting.

I highly recommend A Child of Mine to fans of Beverly Lewis's Amish fiction, as well as to anyone who enjoys great inspirational romance.

Thanks to Bethany House for providing a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

A mother's worse nightmare turns into something beautiful

This storyline is probably a mother's worse nightmare. To have your child taken from you and never knowing if he/she is okay would be awful. I imagine that I, just like Kelly, would never stop looking for my baby.

Nattie is just plain adorable. She's a spunky 9-year-old and full of life. Jack is a sweetheart of a man who doesn't have a lot of confidence when it comes to dating or girls. However, with Kelly he is the perfect gentleman. I admired him for what he does for Nattie and all he gave up to be her guardian... or dad-a-kins. He has such a special relationship with her. Laura was the perfect nanny, but I'm glad things ended the way they did. It was absolutely perfect.

David and Beverly Lewis have once again written a top notch novel. It's a story that pulls at your heart as you root for a mother whose heart has been broken. You understand some of her less-than-ethical approaches, knowing that you would be tempted to do some of the same things. Your heart aches for a girl who just wants a mom because her life has been turned upside down twice and people keep leaving. You also cheer for the man who steps out of his comfort zone to try to give Nattie the life she needs and wants. I don't think this story could have been told any better than it was. I found myself dreaming about this story at night!

As always, I can't wait to see what's next with Beverly Lewis.

Child of Mine is a fantastic book! It is full of twists and turns. Just when you think you have it all figured out, another curve-ball is thrown in. It is great. I enjoy Beverly's books normally but this one was even better than normal. You have a child sold on the black-market, a child adopted by a family, a nanny and a little girl who wraps herself around your little finger. I can not wait to read another one of her books.

I love the collaboration between Beverly and David Lewis. They really develop the characters. I read this book in a short time. I could not put it down. A few times I thought I had it figured out and there was a twist thrown in that I did not see coming. Love this Book! Not only do I highly recommend this book, I will be giving to my "reading" friend. She is a fellow Beverly Lewis enthusiast.

I absolutely loved this collaboration between Beverly and David Lewis! This book held my interest with the story of hope, repentance and redemption.

What I loved most about this book, is that just when I thought I had it all figured out, a new twist was thrown in....drawing me in even further! The ending is not exactly what you expect...are you intrigued yet?!

The characters were very well written and realistic...many of which draw you in and tug at your heartstrings. I am very impressed with this co-authored book, I have always been a fan of Beverly and David's dual efforts! I am looking forward to the next book with great anticipation!

I highly recommend this book to everyone - it is a wonderful story.
