Beverly Lewis was born in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country. She fondly recalls her growing-up years, and due to a keen interest in her mother's Plain family heritage, many of Beverly's books are set in Lancaster County.

Pam BurkePotosi, MOAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A great story that keeps you guessingJanuary 23, 2015Pam BurkePotosi, MOAge: 55-65Gender: femaleA Child of Mine is the second novel that David and Beverly Lewis have co-written, and I certainly hope it is not their last. They have put together a heartwarming story that has major twists and turns throughout.
The characters drew me in quickly, and I was thoroughly engaged as their full stories came to light rather gradually. The more I learned of each one, though, I couldn't imagine any possible conclusion that could leave all of them living "happily ever after." Without giving any spoilers, I will warn that there is a fair amount of heartbreak along the way, mixed in with a good deal of happiness. Be prepared to shed a few tears as you read.
A Child of Mine is not typical Beverly Lewis Amish fare. There is an Amish character who fits in a major way into the main story line, but much of the story is non-Amish. The storytelling is still great, though, even in a more contemporary setting.
I highly recommend A Child of Mine to fans of Beverly Lewis's Amish fiction, as well as to anyone who enjoys great inspirational romance.

Booklover105 Stars Out Of 5A mother's worse nightmare turns into something beautifulDecember 29, 2014Booklover10Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This storyline is probably a mother's worse nightmare. To have your child taken from you and never knowing if he/she is okay would be awful. I imagine that I, just like Kelly, would never stop looking for my baby.
Nattie is just plain adorable. She's a spunky 9-year-old and full of life. Jack is a sweetheart of a man who doesn't have a lot of confidence when it comes to dating or girls. However, with Kelly he is the perfect gentleman. I admired him for what he does for Nattie and all he gave up to be her guardian... or dad-a-kins. He has such a special relationship with her. Laura was the perfect nanny, but I'm glad things ended the way they did. It was absolutely perfect.
David and Beverly Lewis have once again written a top notch novel. It's a story that pulls at your heart as you root for a mother whose heart has been broken. You understand some of her less-than-ethical approaches, knowing that you would be tempted to do some of the same things. Your heart aches for a girl who just wants a mom because her life has been turned upside down twice and people keep leaving. You also cheer for the man who steps out of his comfort zone to try to give Nattie the life she needs and wants. I don't think this story could have been told any better than it was. I found myself dreaming about this story at night!
As always, I can't wait to see what's next with Beverly Lewis.
I received this book free from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for my honest opinion of this book.

It is full of twists and turns. Just when you think you have it all figured out, another curve-ball is thrown in. It is great. I enjoy Beverly's books normally but this one was even better than normal. You have a child sold on the black-market, a child adopted by a family, a nanny and a little girl who wraps herself around your little finger. I can not wait to read another one of her books.
I received this book from the Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion.

They really develop the characters. I read this book in a short time. I could not put it down. A few times I thought I had it figured out and there was a twist thrown in that I did not see coming. Love this Book! Not only do I highly recommend this book, I will be giving to my "reading" friend. She is a fellow Beverly Lewis enthusiast.
