Becky5 Stars Out Of 5Chemistry never tasted so good!April 21, 2012BeckyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I was a die hard Apologia fan. We have completed 5 of the 6 elementary level books. I was considering Apologia's anatomy book for my daughter's fifth grade science, but really felt like I needed to explore something else first and "save" it. I am very glad I did! My fifth grader has walked away with a solid chemistry background. (as has my friend who used this with us with her 6th grader and 3rd grade children) In Matter she learned the difference between density and weight, volume and mass, solution and suspension, and much more. Cooking experiments were a big hit and really solidified the concepts. (don't panic, some of them were optional!!) In Atoms she learned about protons, nutrons and electrons, the periodic table (we know what all the numbers mean!) the difference between and atom and a molecule (more cooking!) and, yes much more. Finally, the ecostystems took a great look at God's world, how ecosystems are set up (NO cooking!!) and work together. Can't speak highly enough of this program. I later looked at their other books, and though I would stick with Apologia for land animals, I would switch to this one for botany in a heart beat!

It's wonderfully easy to follow for the parent/teacher with the lessons plans and the corresponding worksheets and quizzes and it's very interesting for the child as well. I LOVE the multi-grade approach because my daughter rises to the challenge of some of the older student information. I am not science-minded and think the experiements are very easy to complete! I also love the Christian focus to the curriculum as well!
Pamela Blackshire5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent Choice for ScienceFebruary 21, 2011Pamela BlackshireQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5We love this curriculum. It is just right for us. We have used other programs in the past that were simply too much. Too much to memorize, too many projects, too deep, and very dry. We have found this program gives us enough information to learn a concept, with just enough "work" to reinforce what we've learned.
Q: Does this curriculum come with everything you need for experiments?
This curriculum includes instructions for the experiments, but you would have to provide your own supplies.
