JERRY BRIDGES is an author and Bible teacher. His books include The Practice of Godliness and The Gospel for Real Life. He is currently a part of The Navigators' collegiate ministry group and serves as a resource to campus ministries. Jerry and his wife, Jane, live in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

JAY and JEN HOWVER grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. They met while working at a Christian camp together in Michigan and were married there in 1996. Jay and Jen both work at Youth Specialties and live in Southern California.

It's Like A Toolbox on Holiness "The Chase" Written by Jerry Bridges with Jay and Jen Howver Genre: Youth/Christianity The word Holy is understood as Perfect, No blemishes, No sin, No mistakes, virtually unattainable so why even bother, right? In "The Chase"was birthed from a more mature, earlier version published in the 70's "The Pursuit of Holiness", Jerry Bridges, a renowned author also a Bible teacher, is able to put Holiness into perspective in a much easier way to understand. I like it because: 1. Scriptures and Accuracy : Plenty of scriptures to both illustrate, and back up their points, and they were ACCURATE. 2. The Sources: The material, as far as scriptures used, was taken from several Bible sources, including NIV, NASB, NLT, and The Message. I'm only familiar with the NIV and NLT. But by using The Message also, it allows people to better understand a subject that is commonly misinterpreted, Holiness. 3. Modern: I've never read the Parent of this book, Pursuit of Holiness, but I enjoyed the dialect that Bridges chose to use because in order to connect with the generation you're targeting, you need to catch their attention, and hold it. 4. Relate-ability: Throughout the book are examples, or references to certain types of people, or attitudes, or habits that I found I could relate to. That wasn't necessarily a good thing. Sometimes I related to it personally, and other times I related because I knew the type of person it referred to. 5. Tools: Not only does it teach you what it truly means to live a Holy life,it also gives you many tools to use in order to help you on your journey. There are only 2 cons to the book that I found: 1. Slow Start: When I first started reading, it took me just a little to get into it, simply for the fact that the point they were trying to make about the Importance of Holiness in relationship to God, was overkill. That wasn't so terrible though that it kept me from wanting to read it. 2. Text: Also, there were issues with the text in the book as far as appearance. I'm not sure if this copy is an actual finalized copy as in stores, but some of the typing in certain areas ran into each other, or half of one word was connected to the next word. Again, this was not a big issue with me, and has nothing to do with the message in the book. I only point it out because I'm asked to give an honest review of the book. Overall this is a great book for anybody, not just young people, but anybody looking for an easy to understand book on the subject of Holiness and pursuing it.
