Six American men live behind a protective façade, their real work hidden from neighbors and friends. Different in countless ways, they are intimately the same in one: at any moment their lives can be altered with a phone call, and their actions may change the world.

They are Special Ops. And one team’s mission is about to hit certain jeopardy status when the discovery of an Al Qaeda base in Venezuela becomes secondary to thwarting the transport of a nuclear weapons expert from that training camp to Iran.

Informed by the true combat experience of Captain Jeff Struecker and finessed by award-winning novelist Alton Gansky, Certain Jeopardy is an immersing and pulsating fictional account of what really happens at every level of a stealth engagement: the physical enemy encounter, the spiritual war fought within a soldier, and the emotional battles in families back at home.

Endorsements:

Certain Jeopardy by Jeff Struecker and Alton Gansky is like the TV show The Unit on steroids! A group of six men appear to live normal American lives, but at any time they can be called to report to a Special Operations group performing actions for the safety of their country at the risk of their lives. The men are called to Venezuela to investigate rumors of a Al-Qaeda training camp. Instead they stumble into the kidnapping of a nuclear scientist who can empower Iran to create their own nuclear weapons. To rescue him and his family that is being held hostage for his cooperation will force them to use every skill they know and may cost them their lives. I'm not usually a fan of military thrillers, but this book grabbed me on page one and didn't let go until I finally remembered to breathe again at the end. Struecker has served several tours of duty himself, so the writing gives an inside look at secret military operations and the incredible amount of skill and fortitude needed by its members. The action is written so that every scene is almost cinematic; I could see it play out in my head. Interspersed are scenes of the families at home coping with never knowing where their loved ones are or if they will come home. Together they create a powerful look at Army life. I hope that the authors will revisit this team, because I would love to read more!

Sit down and strap yourself in for this adrenaline filled story of a Special Ops team doing what they do best. Eye opening and thrilling Jeff Struecker and Alton Gansky combine combat experience with writing skill and show it off to full advantage. I was anxious to get beyond the early chapters and into the thick of things but getting to know the individual soldiers, their nicknames and personalities, is essential to the reading experience. While this book appealed to my adventurous side it also connected emotionally as the plight of the soldier's loved ones is also laid bare. Dealing with what life throws at us all, but having to leave with little or no notice to places unknown other than the certainty of danger, the sacrifices of our armed forces and their families is highlighted with accuracy and intensity. Leavened with humour and spiritual insight this book will appeal to both men and women. Certain Jeopardy is an excellent first foray into fiction by Captain Jeff Struecker - I hope he will be back with Sgt. Major Eric Moyer's band of brothers soon! - Relz Reviewz

I like the fact that this group of men are so close and they have each other’s backs, through thick or thin. From the first page to the last page the action doesn’t let up. The storyline is believable and the characters are heartfelt. No matter how difficult the times got, these men never gave up on their faith in God. I picked up this book and started reading it and in a matter of a few hours I had finished it. Captain Jeff Struecker and Alton Gansky make a good duo. - Cheryl's Book Nook

"Jeff Struecker is the kind of man heroes look up to. Certain Jeopardy only barely qualifies as fiction - it's that plausible. His deep personal connection with the U.S. military is stamped on every page, and will hit you hard. Read it." - Chuck Holton

I liked this book. I would give it 7/10. If I saw other books by this author, I would probably be likely to read them. It was the story of a nuclear scientist and his family who are kidnapped by corrupt people in order to exploit his knowledge and the attempts of American special-ops to rescue them. In the background are also the stories of the special-ops and their families back at home. It was a book that kept me guessing. - southeastcountrywife, ineedtoread.blogspot.com

I had such a hard time holding this book to read it! I needed to bite my nails because of the continuous action and suspense, but then I couldn't turn the pages fast enough! What's a reader to do?

To say I loved Certain Jeopardy is an understatement. Co-written by Alton Gansky and Captain Jeff Struecker, these pages merge the skills of a novelist with the insights of an Army Ranger. This story literally explodes with drama, danger and an unwavering desire to serve God and country.

When a six-man team flies to Venezuela to eyeball a suspected terrorist camp, their mission takes on new meaning. The kidnapping of a nuclear scientist and his family ups the stakes, creating a situation where failure to respond could result in the deaths of millions of innocent people. But taking action puts all six soldiers in the bulls-eye.

The military aspect of this story joined forces with a compassionate and compelling look at the personal lives of these men. From chain-of-command issues to the chain reactions unleashed with the firing of the first bullets, each moment in this novel feeds into the literary firepower that propels this story forward. As the final pages turn, the authors give readers an encompassing look at all angles of this military operation, stopping only for a conclusion that closes a door that could easily open again.

These people, their purposes and their passions are revealed with sensitivity and insider knowledge. The men that make up this team will hold readers captive with their dedication to home and country. Screams of rage and pain are drowned out by vows of loyalty and love. Grab a tissue, and be ready to give these characters a salute when the book closes. - http://www.inthelibraryreviews.net

This book is a military thriller. The story was written in short, quick chapters from rotating point of views--and there were a fairly large number of point of view characters. The book was fast-paced. The author clearly explained the equipment and jargon used in the story without bogging down the pace with too many details. Every moment was full of tension and conflict, both at home with the team's families and on mission with the team. The conflict and reactions all felt realistic and plausible.

Characters were varied and engaging. Several of the characters were Christian. Their faith mattered to them and made a difference in how they reacted in difficulties, but the Christian content was never preachy. There is no sex in this book and all the swearing is of the "he swore" variety rather than actual printed cuss words. Overall, I'd highly recommend this book as a "good, clean fun" novel. - Reviewed by Debbie M., Book Bargains Review
