Certainly a textbook style rendition of Biblical counseling. It shows the most important arguments of Psychological intervention with Christian counsel. I found it to be a very informative read regarding this difficult area of specialty. I would state that this book integrates the "Freedom in Christ ministries", which may show a bias to counselors in the field. It is still very helpful for a person that is seeking specific care in this area. It will arm you with some questions for your Psychologist. It probably will never become a best seller due to the specific format, but it is essential for the libraries of educators and concerned laypersons. You will understand the different philosophies that are currently available in today's world. This is what the book was certainly written for. Neil presents the important integration of psychology with Biblical reference. That is very evident. If this is not your profession, you will still gain some important knowledge that is so difficult to find anywhere.

This is an excellent and balanced text. I can see the benefit of the bible-based counselor, at any clinical level--needing a text such as this. This fills a void. It is bible-based and true the the contextual meaning of Scripture. Many attempts are too steeped in psychological theory--or are well informed, theologically (with little or no clinical insight). This text is a refreshing combination! Balanced--I should think, is the operative word. A balanced bibical world-veiw, and understanding of human nature--and applied biblcal principles are the mission and thurst of this text. Well done.
