Donita K. PaulColoradoAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Worth readingAugust 31, 2013Donita K. PaulColoradoAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Not only am I still humming the song by the same name, I keep revisiting the characters in my head. Beth Vogt creates characters that keep you interested even after you've read the last page. I've gone back and read some of my favorite scenes again, just because I enjoyed how the plot thickened and the story hummed along with twists and surprises.
IreneUnited States5 Stars Out Of 5Enjoyed the Main CharactersAugust 20, 2013IreneUnited StatesQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The main characters in this story actually have character! I like when you find yourself being happy for and cheering on a relationship between two well developed characters. This story held my attention with its well written conversations and interesting story line. I gave this book 5/5 stars. I thought the book was entertaining and liked how it flowed from one chapter to the next without leaving you lost. I would recommend this book for anyone looking for a fun romance between two entertaining characters.
I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.
GCCanadaAge: Under 18Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5Gorgeous. (4 1/2 stars)July 2, 2013GCCanadaAge: Under 18Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Meets Expectations: 4Catch a Falling Star came as precious as a jewel ― its romance and lessons dazzling, and the adventure nothing but a pure delight to discover. Once again, Beth Vogt delivers a story sure to hold you in its grip. This author's voice is the kind in which a reader basks, it is elegant, down to earth and sprinkled with a good doze of wisdom and fun. Her latest offering is not only a good read, it's a page-flipping good read, with drama at almost every corner you turn― just enough to keep me on the edge of my seat but not enough to make me feel overwhelmed. Well, except when the drama involved that heathen fellow... uh.. Heath! His name is Heath Parker and he is a doctor - apparently- in the novel. Very dislikable fellow. I'll let you readers have the 'pleasure' of meeting him, but in the meantime, excuse me while I rave the wonders of the main characters and of their love story.
Kendall and Griffin.
Oh my word, what a golden couple!! I was a goner when it came to their romance. A tender relationship marked by rich moments, tender and sassy ones. They are both are as stubborn as the day is long, but with deep and vulnerable spots. Should there be an award for best couples in Christian Fiction 2013, I'd readily nominate this couple. The last scene in the novel is a top-notch winner in my opinion, as it almost sent me to the floor, swooning. I'll read it again! I added half a star to my rating of the book because of it. The characters shine like stars. (Pun intended.)
In the end, Vogt produces a smooth landing to the ride and a satisfying ending for both reader and character. This isn't the kind of story where unreasonable and fairy-like things come about, but where the author seeks to explore what God means when He says there shall be beauty for ashes. Where imperfect people come together admitting their defeats and failures and where the God of hope works it all for the good of His Children. If I were to point out just two things that hindered me from giving this 5 stars, it'd be firstly that the romantic in me would have preferred having more - much more!- romantic scenes between Kendall and Griffin. And secondly, I found that the author could have delved into the heart of the story more. There's a wonderful message at the center of the story and I wouldn't have minded reading a lengthier novel if it meant a deeper exploration of the lessons and values in it.
Keep them coming, Beth Vogt!
TrudiBath, NYAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Unexpected RomanceJune 18, 2013TrudiBath, NYAge: 55-65Gender: femaleCatch a Falling Star tells the story of Dr. Kendall Hayes, who has reached the age of 36 and realizes that her marital dreams may not come true. So when she's out celebrating her birthday with her girlfriends, she's not expecting anything to come of a chance meeting in the restaurant, as she responds to a medical crisis. Griffin Walker's life was just as he wanted it, until the solitary Air Force pilot was grounded by a medical problem. The sudden death of his parents makes him guardian of a 16 year old brother he barely knows, a situation that frustrates him as he feels totally unsuited to be a parent and can't wait until he's able to fly again. When Ian has a serious allergic reaction to food in a restaurant, Kendall enters their lives and proves to be another complication that Griffin feels he must fight.
I found this story to be populated by believable and likeable characters, facing realistic situations with honest emotions. Their lives demonstrate grace and healing as they live out their faith with humor and growing hope.
Catch a Falling Star is a well written and entertaining story that you won't want to skip. I'll be watching for other books by this author!
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my fair and honest review.
Katie BColoradoAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5June 4, 2013Katie BColoradoAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book by Beth K. Vogt was such a page turner. I (a self-proclaimed slow reader) read this book inside of 24 hours because I couldn't put it down.
I love how realistic the characters are in the book. I laughed, cried and yelled along with them as I read. I felt such an emotional connection with Evie and Kendall that I was surprised at some of my reactions in the book.
If you are on the fence about reading this book, I'll tell you right now, you WON'T be disappointed! It's a wonderful journey! I have already recommended this book to many friends and they have loved it too!
