A course-changing event in ones life can happen in minutes. Or it can form slowly, a primitive webbing splaying into fingers of discontent, a minuscule trail hardening into the sinewed spine of resentment. So it was with the mill workers as the heat-soaked days of summer marched on. City girl Jessie, orphaned at sixteen, struggles to adjust to life with her barely known aunt and uncle in the tiny town of Bradleyville, Kentucky. Eight years later (1968), she plans on leavingto follow in her revered mothers footsteps of serving the homeless. But the peaceful town shes come to love is about to be tragically shattered. Threats of a labor strike rumble through the streets, and Jessies new love and her uncle are swept into the maelstrom. Caught between the pacifist teachings of her mother and these two men, Jessie desperately tries to deny that Bradleyville is rolling toward violence and destruction.

Joanna5 Stars Out Of 5February 24, 2007JoannaThis is a fabulous book! Brandilyn Collins has an excellent writing style, with smooth and relaxed prose. the plot was a tad slow at the start, but once I got into it, I was quite hooked. I recommend this to anyone who loves fiction laced in small-town southern charm.
Pearl5 Stars Out Of 5August 29, 2003PearlNo matter what the genre, Brandilyn Collins knows how to captivate her audience. "Cast a Road Before Me" is set in the little town of Bradleyville, Kentucky. Jesse goes to live with her aunt and uncle when her mother dies. All the while, Jesse is looking forward to moving to the big city where she will make a career out of helping people. What she doesn't plan on is falling in love or caring so much about the town of Bradleyville. Once you enter Bradleyville, you won't want to leave either! Pick up "Color a Sidewalk for Me" and "Capture the Wind for Me" to spend more time with the background characters in this novel. It will definitely be worth your time.
Kim5 Stars Out Of 5June 19, 2003KimBrandilyn Collins is a wonderful example of how God can be glorified in fiction! A touching story of a town that has turned from God and how God works to bring them back into His arms. The story has many layers, many memorable characters, and you will want to stay in Bradleyville through this book and the other two in the series!! Don't miss this opportunity to watch God work!!
