Rich Menninger5 Stars Out Of 5December 22, 2000Rich MenningerLee Strobel's book is a retracing of his spiritual journey to faith in Jesus Christ. This odyssey was prompted by the conversion of Strobel's wife, Leslie. As a result, he embarked on a 21 month search that involved interviewing experts in the fields of theology, New Testament studies, medicine and psychiatry. Strobel posed questions befitting of one embracing atheism, asking for rebuttal to skepticism in the truthfulness of the claims of Christ and of those who follow him.Strobel took pains to leave no stone unturned. Utilizing his training in legal affairs and his journalistic skills as an editor of the Chicago Tribune. Strobel writes as one examining the evidence of a criminal trial. He begins each chapter with a criminal case he had covered, a case that introduces the subject of the particular chapter. One by one his objections are met with logical arguments, supported by historical and reasonable evidence. This leads him to conclude that the only possible rational explanation for the origin and emergence of Christianity is that Jesus Christ did in fact rise from the grave. This book should catch the eye of skeptics, as well as Christians who want to close the gap between the mind and the heart. While Strobel admits that faith is needed to experience the risen Christ, he has presented a solid case for accepting the truth of the gospel in a world that demands empirical evidence.
Stephan Brown, D.D.5 Stars Out Of 5December 19, 2000Stephan Brown, D.D.The Case for Christ is a refreshing change from the norm of dry, boring, academia in the realm of apologetics. Being swamped with books I needed to read, I was going to lend Case for Christ to a friend. On the way to bring it to him, I began to read it and simply couldn't put it down. I was so taken in by it that I began asking numbers of my skeptical friends to read it. I found myself compelled to by the six-pack of books to accomodate the people I had in mind for this book. I thoroughly recommend this book for both the believer to be strengthened in his faith and strengthened in his arguments of the faith and for the unbeliever, who will be confronted with the most honest, well written Case for Christ available.
