Overall, I must say that this is a fantastic book. It's written in an interesting way which holds your attention, it addresses some basic needs and it has some unusual insights and advice. I am going to recommend it to our daughters, I believe that each one will find things in it to help them in their individual lives.
I gave it an overall 5 but a 4.5 would be more accurate. I encountered 2 negatives:
1)Maybe it's there and I missed it but the basic detail of sin is not addressed. I don't think it's just my opinion but, rather, that of God's, that this needs to be taken care of before ANY relationship, with God or man, can go forward!
2)I frequently did not know who was writing-John or Stasi. At times that was a rather frustrating thing as I considered the angle or attitude of who was saying what. And at one point, one sentence was written by him and the next sentence by her. Maybe it's just me, but it was a huge peeve! Perhaps that is a detail which could be corrected if another edition is published.
I think that every woman from 16 and above should read this book because it not only gives you insight to things that may be effecting you from your past and how to understand it better. It also gives you information on things that will come in your future and prepare you to handle in a Godly manner.
The spiritual benefits of this book are immeasurable. I learned so much about what God thinks of me. This has changed my entire view of myself and strengthened my relationship with christ. It tears down so many lies that the devil has made society to believe about the significance of femininity & creation of woman. It definitely challenges the deep rooted negative messages and opens/mends the heart.
This is the most honoring book I have ever read regarding God's unique design and purpose of women. It explained that the yearnings I have as a woman, wanting to be pursued, protected, loved, yet strong and capable, are godly. Women were not intended to be lesser, but rather have a complimentary function, one in which we work together, using the unique abilities and perspective we were designed to have, to accomplish God's purposes. I always knew that women were as important to God's plan as men but it isn't really lived in the church as such. I think this book goes a long way in bringing greater understanding to the beautiful godly design of the woman and how she fits with the beautiful and godly design of the man. Much of what we have seen lived in the church is still from the fallen perspective, man ruling over the woman, verses them both having dominion as described before the fall. Jesus Christ has restored our relationship with God. It is time we share this dominion again as God intended, doing this together as God has uniquely designed us to.
An excellent source of information helpful in exposing hurts and pain carried. The authors share examples of Jesus healing areas of pain held in ones heart. They reveal God's design in creating Women, who are designed and created to be nurtured and loved. Women are created beautiful, and designed to be delighted in. God created women as His crowing glory with hearts meant to be romanced. It is vital women recognize God's loving design for them in creation, beautiful, as His crowning glory.
